Herzog Division of the Week: Herzog Technologies, Inc. (HTI) This week, we’re spotlighting HTI’s Herzog Survey Platform, which leverages advanced LiDAR and GPS technology to scan the right-of-way for ballast and ditch profiling, tie inspection, and the precise location of right-of-way assets. These scans can be tailored to deliver 3D views of the track, along with customized reports to meet each customer's specific needs. Originally designed to replace manual track surveys and eliminate subjectivity, this LiDAR truck ensures the accurate placement of ballast and ties along the right-of-way and helps railroads update their digital subdivision files with changes in track infrastructure. Herzog’s survey software significantly enhances survey accuracy while reducing track time on busy corridors.

Herzog Division of the Week: Herzog Contracting Corp. (HCC) This week, we highlight Herzog Contracting Corp. and its recent road improvement and asphalt paving project in St. Joseph, MO. This work on the road leading to our corporate offices has significantly improved safety for both the public and Herzog employees. The Missouri General Assembly allocates $75 million annually to the Department of Transportation and Economic Development for the Governor’s Transportation Cost-Share Program, aiming to build partnerships with local entities to deliver essential road and bridge projects. In the fall of 2022, Herzog applied to this program to enhance safety at the intersection of Riverside Road (MoDOT Route AC) and Herzog Drive by widening the roadway and adding turn lanes to address frequent rear-end collisions. The application was approved, and the project was put out for bid by MoDOT in August 2023. Herzog successfully won the bid with a project valued at $1,466,723.47. Completed this spring, the project added a turn lane and reconstructed existing driving lanes and shoulders along approximately 1,200 feet of Riverside Road and Herzog Drive. It also involved earthwork to improve visibility at the northwest corner of the intersection, extensive utility relocations, ADA improvements, stormwater modifications, pavement markings, signage, and seeding. This effort not only demonstrates the power of collaboration between Herzog and MoDOT but also underscores our commitment to enhancing safety and infrastructure in our community.

Herzog recently participated in the Externship program, a collaboration between the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce and the St. Joseph School District. Herzog hosted a total of around 25 teachers and counselors throughout the week of July 15-18. During this time, Herzog educated the school faculty members on what exactly Herzog does and the qualities they look for in potential candidates as well as giving tours of different Herzog facilities. The purpose of this externship is to educate teachers and counselors so they can prepare their students for their job searches once they enter the workforce. Herzog is honored to have been able to share this time with these valued members of our community and provide them a behind-the-scenes look of our company!
