A few weeks ago, I began my 10th semester as an adjunct instructor at the JMU College of Business. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to teach a range of courses, but my favorite by far is FIN420 – Financial Planning and Wealth Management. People often ask me, "Why do you teach?" For me, it’s about sharing not just my knowledge as a financial planner, but my broader experience as a professional. My goal is to build on the excellent education students have received at JMU, offering them some final "tips and tricks" before they embark on their careers. In fact, one of the students' favorite classes each year is a discussion we have toward the end of the semester where I share the mistakes I’ve made throughout my career and how they can learn from them. I’m incredibly grateful to Hui Sono, PhD, CFA and the team at COB for giving me the chance to teach and contribute over the last few years.
