The new UPMC Presbyterian Hospital will be the largest hospital in Pittsburgh's history, at 17 stories and spanning 900,000 square feet. A recent topping-off ceremony marked the placement of the final steel beam, with construction shifting to the hospital’s interior. Designed by HGA, the new inpatient tower will feature cutting-edge technology, 600 private patient rooms, a family lounge, a fitness center and an innovative lifestyle village, inviting in patients’ families and the broader community. HGA gathered with local, state, and federal dignitaries and residents to honor the past of the City of New Haven's "Black Main Street," and to celebrate its future promise. Design Principal, Peter Cook, FAIA, NOMA, spoke at the groundbreaking of ConnCAT Place on Dixwell, a $200 million development, with HGA colleagues, Megan Shiley, AIA, LEED AP, Vance Cunningham, RA, Alisa Chirachaturaphak, and Scott Cryer, AIA in attendance. The first phase will include the construction of a new headquarters for Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology 'ConnCAT', a worker training center. It will be joined by a 186-unit mixed income apartment tower, a Cornell Scott - Hill Health Center child mental health and family center, a FRIENDS CENTER FOR CHILDREN INC-affiliated daycare, a grocery store and food hall, a greenspace, and retail storefronts. Honoring the past, the present, and the future, the reimagined History Jackson Hole | Jackson Hole History Museum is a cultural destination and a local fixture for education and community gathering. Drawing from Jackson’s signature Western aesthetic, the collaborative HGA-lead design effort struck a delicate balance between contextual and contemporary design, integrating both the Western character and historic relevance of downtown Jackson alongside a modern museum reflecting Jackson Hole’s present and future. The Westwood Hills Nature Center in the City of St. Louis Park, Minnesota incorporates key sustainability features such as a geothermal heat pump system, rooftop solar photovoltaic array, solar shading, natural ventilation for cooling and thermal mass for heating.
