About us

Hidden Villa is a nonprofit educational organization that uses its organic farm, wilderness, and community to teach and provide opportunities to learn about the environment and social justice. Hidden Villa is an outdoor refuge in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains. Spanning 1,600 acres, Hidden Villa is home to an organic, sustainable farm, gardens, beautiful trails, and animals such as cows, pigs, chickens and goats. We also have several historic buildings on-site, including an 1860s-era barn and blacksmith forge, a hostel that was constructed in 1937 and several buildings that demonstrate environmentally sustainable designs. In 2024, we will celebrate Hidden Villa’s 100-year anniversary.

Education + philanthropy to protect the forests, rivers, lakes, oceans, and wetlands that sustain life and allow a stable climate.

Part three of three of news articles about Hidden Villa, and a big thanks to Nathan Chiochios, writer at the Palo Alto Weekly! My favorite part of this article features the story and photos of former camper and counselor Carolyn Chen who recounted her experiences at Hidden Villa and with the Duvenecks, specifically Josephine, reading some of the letters that Josephine sent to Carolyn. She shared stories about how Josephine would read stories to all the campers but more importantly about how Josephine would reach into community to create their interest in coming for a summer. Tears, goose-bumps, stories, and echos of the impact that one person made on the lives of so many young people. We continue to seek that pathway today, and have a matching challenge fund care of Ralph Eschenbach and Dr. Carol Provan. This challenge match is available to help us say YES! to every camper who wants to join us at Hidden Villa. At this moment our amazing Camp leadership team is helping to convey safe, fun, and meaningful experiences to hundreds of little ones this summer. With partners like Acta Non Verba, 'Anamatangi Polynesian Voices, Climate Resilient Communities, Dreamcatchers, LifeMoves, Rosalie Rendu, Reikes, and support from our community we are able to convey these opportunities to hundreds of kids who would not otherwise have an opportunity to join Summer Camp . This is our past and our future. Please donate and join our challenge match today: https://lnkd.in/gUrJ35Ns https://lnkd.in/gEKjBY7B

Part two of three in the news today, and a nice article about Hidden Villa care of Christina Casillas, staff writer at the Los Altos Town Crier. The article digs in a bit on Hidden Villa’s future focused on re-invest in climate solutions we all need to see, but also inclusive equity-centered education, understanding and respect, and how to improve these opportunities in a changing world. With a new strategic plan, an emerging site plan for renewed investment, and a big Centennial year coming up we are thrilled to welcome you at Hidden Villa. Join us! https://lnkd.in/gt9REKxC
