🚨 70% of Truckers Forced to Violate HOS Due to Parking Shortage 🚨 The American Trucking Associations (ATA) has launched a campaign to address the severe truck parking shortage affecting truckers across the U.S. 🇺🇸🚛 According to the ATA, the situation is so critical that 70% of truck drivers are forced to violate hours-of-service (HOS) regulations just to find a safe parking spot. 😟 With only 313,000 parking spaces available nationwide for 3.5 million truck drivers, it’s no surprise this is a crisis. ATA is pushing lawmakers to increase funding for truck parking projects and has even released a mini-documentary to highlight this dire need. 📹 Check the comments for a link to their infographic on the toll this takes on drivers. Truckers are the backbone of America’s supply chain, and they deserve safe, legal parking options. Let’s support initiatives that improve conditions for our professional drivers! 🚛💪 #TruckParkingCrisis #TruckDrivers #HoursOfService #ATA #Transportation #SafetyFirst #ParkingShortage #SupplyChain #Logistics

🚨 Big Changes Ahead for Hazardous Materials Regulations 🚨 This week, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced a major rule proposal aimed at simplifying and modernizing hazardous materials regulations for truck drivers hauling fuel! 🛢️🚛 Here are the highlights of the proposal: 🔹 Simplifying hazard communication requirements for fuels like gasoline transported in tanker trucks. 🔹Encouraging innovation in hazardous materials rail cars by reducing review times and addressing recommendations for improved safety standards. 🔹 Modernizing standards for agricultural equipment, including codifying manufacturing standards for fertilizer tanks and allowing the use of video tech for cargo inspections. If passed, this rule could result in $100 million in annual cost savings for businesses and consumers while still maintaining rigorous safety measures. 💰✅ U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg said, “This proposal streamlines requirements while maintaining safety measures, helping reduce costs for businesses and consumers and making it easier for drivers to do their job.” At High Mountain Safety, we’ve taken a deeper look at some of the proposed amendments, which include: ✅ Add a sixth row to specify that a cargo tank may display the UN ID number of the petroleum distillate fuel with the lowest flash point transported in different trips on the previous or current business day, except for gasoline and alcohol fuel blends with more than 10% ethanol ✅ Electronic submission procedures for cargo tank facility modifications. ✅ New definitions for critical cargo tank components. ✅ Clarifications on hazardous materials endorsement training. ✅ Allowing video tech for tank inspections, streamlining processes. This is a significant move for our industry, and we’re excited to see how these changes could benefit both drivers and companies in the long run. Let’s keep pushing for innovation and safety! 🚛💪 #Hazmat #TransportationSafety #DOT #FuelTransport #Innovation #SafetyFirst #CostSavings #TruckDrivers #RegulationUpdate #SupplyChain #HighMountainSafety #FMCSA Dill Petroleum LLC Senergy Petroleum RelaDyne LLC Marathon Petroleum Corporation Teton Petroleum Transport Hart Fueling Services

🚛 Did you know? The American Trucking Association (ATA) studied 8,309 fatal car-truck crashes and found that car drivers were at fault 81% of the time, compared to 27% for truck drivers. Similarly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found car drivers responsible for 91% of head-on crashes, 71% of rear-end crashes, and 77% of same-direction sideswipes. The FMCSA’s studies align, showing cars were at fault in 85% of fatal car-truck crashes over three years. 📊 Every crash is a tragedy. But what’s also tragic is that many drivers and companies are blamed for incidents they couldn’t prevent. This data highlights the importance of having a defensive driving training program like the Smith System in place. 🛑 By investing in the nation's leading defensive driver training program, you can empower your fleet to recognize early warning signs and avoid accidents—whether it’s a light-duty or heavy-duty fleet. 🚚 High Mountain Safety can show you how similar sized fleets saved money annually by investing in Smith System driving. We can help your company reduce accidents and save on annual accident costs, potentially saving millions. 🦺 Protect Your Back: Store It Off the Floor! 🚫💪 Did you know that storing items at waist level can cut your risk of back injuries in half? 💡 Lifting from the floor doubles the strain on your back, even if you’re using proper techniques. High Mountain Safety recommends this tip to reduce the risk of injury for your team. Supervisors, during your next safety talk, ask workers: “What are some ways we can store more items at waist level?” 👷♂️📦👷♀️ Listen and implement the best ideas to keep your workplace safe! Here's why storing items at waist level is crucial: 🔹 Lifting from the floor adds the weight of your own body to the load, putting strain on your back. 🔹 Lifting overhead can lead to neck and shoulder injuries – heavy items should never be stored above shoulder height. 🔹 Waist level is the best place for heavy items or frequently used tools, reducing strain and the risk of injury. Tips to prevent back injuries: ✔️ Size up the load: If it's too heavy for one person, use a hand truck or ask for help. ✔️ Lift safely: Keep the load close to your body, lift with your legs, and avoid twisting. ✔️ Move with care: Keep the load near your body as you walk, and turn without twisting. ✔️ Set it down safely: Use your leg muscles to lower the load, and keep your hands and feet clear. High Mountain Safety offers in-person training for your warehouse and driving personnel to teach proper lifting techniques and other best practices! Let’s keep your workplace injury-free. 🚧💼 #BackSafety #WarehouseSafety #InjuryPrevention #WorkplaceSafety #SafetyFirst #HighMountainSafety #Ergonomics #LiftingSafety #SafetyTraining #StaySafe
