  • Understanding the ADHD Part Three: Self-Esteem 🤔 Another important aspect of the ADHD brain is low self-esteem. Low self-esteem may develop when the ADHD brain is exposed prolonged criticism from those who don't understand how it works. The ADHD brain tends to focus on negative messages over positive ones, impacting confidence and sense of self. 🙆🏾♂️ Low self-esteem in the ADHD brain can impact academic and work performance, relationships, goal-setting, and overall mood. 💯 It's important to address how ADHD impacts self-worth and our brain's sense of what it can accomplish. Strategies such as therapy, social support, achievable goal-setting, and self-care can help boost the ADHD brain's confidence and ability to focus on the positive. 💯 Looking for more support managing your ADHD? • Let’s dive into Emotional Management for the ADHD Brain: Volume Two ✍🏾 One of the big things about the ADHD brain is that it sometimes struggles to deal with emotions. This can happen because intense feelings can be super overwhelming, or it might have a hard time figuring out mixed messages, which makes it tough to use self-regulation techniques when things get rough.💯 For individuals with ADHD, emotional ups and downs can show up as quick, impulsive reactions, being really sensitive to feedback, and having a hard time recognizing their own feelings or those of others. 🙋🏻♀️ To get better at handling emotions, people with ADHD can try out some techniques like deep breathing, grounding exercises, and learning to accept themselves. Giving the ADHD brain a toolkit of coping strategies can really help boost emotional balance and self-confidence! 👏🏽🎉 Looking for more support managing your ADHD? Don’t hesitate to REACH OUT to connect with one of our ADHD therapists. 💜

  • Are you familiar with how INATTENTION manifests in individuals with ADHD? It often appears as challenges in completing tasks, a tendency to forget things frequently, struggles with managing time, and a lack of organization. 🙋🏻♀️ 🙆🏾♂️ For those with ADHD, engaging in executive functions can be more challenging, making these processes seem easier for those without the condition. 💯 It’s crucial to understand that those with ADHD aren’t unmotivated; rather, they require greater effort to maintain focus. 🙌🏾 Establishing systems for prioritizing tasks, organizing, and managing energy can greatly assist the ADHD brain in honing in on and accomplishing its goals. 👏🏽 Are you seeking assistance regarding your ADHD? Don’t hesitate to REACH OUT to connect with one of our ADHD therapists. 💜

  • Avoidant restrictive food intake disorder, more commonly known as ARFID, is a condition characterized by the person avoiding certain foods or types of food, having restricted intake in terms of overall amount eaten, or both. 🤔 Anyone of any age can have ARFID. It occurs in children, teenagers and adults. Although people with ARFID may lose weight or have low weight, this is not a criteria for ARFID. It can occur at any weight and varies in different people. 💯 Someone might be avoiding and/or restricting their food for a number of different reasons. The most common are the following three reasons. You might see these referred to as subtypes of ARFID: 1. They might be very sensitive to the taste, texture, smell, or appearance of certain types of food, or only able to eat foods at a certain temperature. 2. They may have had a distressing experience with food, such as choking or vomiting, or experiencing significant abdominal pain. 😢 3. In some cases, the person may not recognize that they are hungry in the way that others would, or they may generally have a poor appetite. 🙆🏾♂️ READ MORE ON OUR BLOG...✅️

  • When we hear the word "AVOIDANT," we may think we know what it means: distant, unfeeling, aloof... But when it comes to attachment styles, what does being avoidant really mean? 🤔 At the root of an avoidant attachment style is the FEAR OF INTIMACY and VULNERABILITY. This may be because, in past experiences of being expressing emotions and being vulnerable, the emotions were dismissed, shut down, or used against them by a partner or caregiver. 💯 Those with an avoidant attachment style have learned it's SAFER to hide and suppress their emotions and needs. 😢 Avoidant-style people are very independent and self-sufficient. They may struggle to feel okay depending on someone else, which can be a challenge in long-term relationships. 👩🏻❤️👨🏽 Healing in avoidant attachment is all about learning how to tolerate difficult emotions, identify and express needs, self-soothe, and build safety in their relationships with others. 🙌🏾 Looking for support for yourself or in your relationship? Reach out to get connected with one of our attachment experts. 💜

  • Parts work therapy is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying a person's many complex parts. 🛋️ These PARTS often develop out of life experiences, hardships, or traumas. The behaviors or ways of thinking we create to deal with those experiences become our parts. 💯 Each of these parts has its own tendencies, motivations, and needs. And sometimes they clash with one another, creating conflict and inner turmoil. 😱 😡 Parts work therapy seeks to resolve that conflict and allow the person to reconnect with their true self while having compassion for all their unique parts. 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 Think parts work therapy might be right for you? 🙋🏻♀️ Go to our website "contact" form to get connected with an expert parts work therapist. 💜

  • A GLIMMER is a sensory cue that can make someone feel SAFE and HAPPY, while a trigger is a sensory reminder that can cause someone to feel unsafe or relive past trauma. 🤔 Looking for glimmers is a MINDFULNESS PRACTICE that can help people recognize the GOOD around them. 🙌🏾 ✨️ It can also help people break away from uncomfortable emotions, which can lead to a more positive outlook and better ability to take action. If you're having trouble identifying what your own glimmers are, here are some common ones: 🍁 Being in nature 🐶 Petting your cat or dog ☕️ The perfect cup of coffee 😃 A smile from a stranger 🌈 Seeing a rainbow 🌊 Listening to the ocean waves Want to learn more? 🙋🏻♀️ Message us to schedule a session and get started. 💜
