Ladies and gentlemen, On this solemn occasion of Memorial Day, as we gather to honor and remember the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our cherished nation, on behalf of Texas HIMSS, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and profound respect to those who have laid down their lives in service to our great land. Today, we come together as a nation to pay tribute to the valiant men and women who, throughout history, have exemplified the true essence of selflessness, courage, and unwavering dedication. These extraordinary individuals, from every corner of our vast and diverse nation, answered the call of duty without hesitation, placing themselves in harm's way so that we may continue to enjoy the blessings of freedom and liberty. Memorial Day serves as a poignant reminder that freedom comes at a high cost. It reminds us that the liberties we hold dear were secured through the sacrifice of those who believed in something greater than themselves. These brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines understood the true meaning of service and honor. They fought valiantly so that future generations could live in a nation where freedom, justice, and equality prevail. In the great state of Texas, a place known for its strong spirit, resilience, and love of country, we stand today, united in gratitude. Our hearts are filled with deep reverence for the Texas sons and daughters who laid down their lives to safeguard the principles upon which our great state was built. Their sacrifice has left an indelible mark on our history, and their memory will forever be etched in our hearts. As we pay homage to these fallen heroes, let us also remember the families they left behind—mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, and friends who carry the weight of their absence each day.
