If the events of this year have felt overwhelming, you’re certainly not alone. In difficult times, we may see that alcohol bottle glistening in our kitchen cabinet… and we go BOOM!… ‘It is just one drink; nothing is going to happen…’ While enjoying a drink now and then is perfectly fine, consistently exceeding the recommended limits – one drink per day for women and two for men – can negatively impact both mental and physical well-being. As we seek healthier ways to cope and reflect on our habits, the Sober October challenge presents a compelling opportunity. Originating in 2014 as a fundraising initiative for Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK, Sober October has grown into a global movement encouraging individuals to abstain from alcohol for the month. #health #wellness #sobriety #SoberOctober #sober #alcohol https://lnkd.in/eKjuHaTR

About us
The Healthcare Institute for Virtual Education (HIVE) serves as a source of knowledge, collaboration and educational opportunities for patients, providers and researchers interested in the field of Virtual Care. Our mission is to accelerate the development and adoption of innovative patient-centered care delivery models, enabled by technology, and to advance the impact of virtual care through training, accreditation programs, outcomes research and thought leadership. Through the digital transformation of healthcare, we are expanding healthcare access, reducing health inequities, and improving health outcomes around the world. The HIVE provides a forum for global learning and sharing, bringing critical information to one place for the benefit of many. Users will be able to learn about the challenges faced by patients and clinicians in many countries – challenges related to COVID-19 and the access to virtual care in general.

In a recent Best Buy Health survey of health systems, #HealthPlans, and 1,000 consumers finds that the market wants more home-based care options. Here are the top 5 findings of the survey : 1. Executives leading health systems and health plans are now approaching care at home as both the desired standard of care and a competitive differentiator for appropriate populations. 2. Health system leaders recognize the benefits of, and need for, offering a wide range of at-home care services and acknowledge that technologies have matured adequately for even complex clinical use cases. 3. Health plans see the advantages of using care-at-home programs to connect with more members. Leaders are more interested in partnering with health systems on at-home models of care than they were a few years ago. 4. Consumers see the benefits of monitoring technologies to strengthen the patient-physician relationship and express interest in how these tools can help them accomplish their health goals—and the goals of their loved ones. 5. The top consumer concerns about care-at-home and health monitoring devices are cost and privacy, highlighting the need for education to patients and members about how the programs, billing, and technologies all work. #healthathome #homehealthcare #healthcare #virtualcare

"Healthcare providers will have more opportunities to receive Medicare reimbursements for digital health and virtual care programs under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ proposed 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. In what is roundly considered a positive step forward for #healthcare innovation, CMS is showing support for care management programs that embrace new technologies and strategies to meet patients where they are, rather than paying providers to entice them into the doctor’s office or hospital." "During the pandemic, they were heroes. Now, they’re apparently expendable. In what is becoming a pattern in healthcare, on Tuesday (July 2), Oregon Health & Science University cut a #telehealth nursing unit set up in March 2020 that was once featured on its website for its service to people across the state. It is a microcosm of changes in how consumers access healthcare in the post-pandemic connected economy, as telehealth trends down and AI and other virtual technologies take its place alongside a comeback in in-person doctor visits."

Hippo aims to support Community Health Workers in rural Kenya through the use of our Hippo Virtual Care platform and Assisted Reality headsets. In these photos, Dr. Dennis Kinoti is demonstrating the platform to a colleague. The platform will enable him to extend his expertise into the field via a Community Health Worker wearing the headset. Dr. Kinoti works with CFK Africa, a nonprofit organization based in Nairobi, to "advance health, education, ethnic cooperation, gender equality, and empowerment" in informal settlements in Kenya. #Kenya #AssistedReality #AR #headset #healthcare #ruralhealth #CFKAfrica #AfricanHealthcare #Nairobi #telemedicine
