While Catawba County was spared the worst of Hurricane Helene, our neighbors in Western North Carolina and the High Country are facing significant challenges, both immediately and in the long recovery ahead. We are especially grateful today for the “citizen soldiers” — the National Guard members who have been deployed to assist those in need, whether it’s helping a neighbor or a fellow American. These brave men and women have put their own lives on hold to serve our state and region, ensuring that recovery efforts move forward as quickly as possible. This week, our very own Adam Sides (Director of Operations) and Nathan Huret (Chief Engagement Officer) had the honor of attending the MPOTFF Transition Expo at Camp Lejeune, where they spoke with Marine Raiders about their next steps as they transition to civilian life. At HKY4Vets, we’re committed to supporting these brave individuals and their families—whether they choose to stay in our area or move elsewhere after their service. This marks our 3rd year attending this great event, and it’s always an honor to stand alongside other veteran support organizations and employers who share our mission of giving back to those who’ve served us.

👋 HKY4VETS Impact in 2023/2024! We’ve been hard at work supporting veterans and military spouses through a series of hiring events this past year! Since August 2023, we organized two hiring events—a collaborative in-person fair with @NCWorks and a virtual hiring event. With over 50 veterans, transitioning military members, and military spouses participating, at least 33 participants moved into recruitment pipelines with participating companies! 👋 HKY4VETS Impact in 2023/2024 – We’ve been busy this year, and it’s time to highlight some of the ways we’ve helped veterans and military spouses through the HKY4VETS Career & Services Network! 🎉 📈 36 inquiries came in from across the country through our newly-built assistance channel —28 from here in our Hickory Metro region and 8 from other states. 🇺🇸 Register for the 4th Annual Shining Hope Farms 5k/10k Salute Trail Run! 🇺🇸 On Saturday, September 14th, 2024, Shining Hope Farms will host its 4th Annual 5k/10k Salute Trail Run at their beautiful Conover farm to honor Veterans, first responders, law enforcement, and those lost on 9/11. 🌟 🏃♂️ Event Details: 📍 Location: 6347 St. Peters Church Rd, Conover, NC 28613 🗓 Date: Saturday, September 14, 2024 ⏰ Start Time: 9:00 AM Participants can choose between a 5k or 10k trail, navigating 5 miles of stunning trails on a 120-acre farm. Both races will be chip-timed, with an awards ceremony following the race.
