Andrew Hall, founder and CEO of HLM Associates, is proudly raising funds for the Lions Club 26th Annual Bill Bowman Memorial Anniversary Golf Tournament in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Your support helps enhance the quality of life for children and adults in the local region. Bill Bowman was Andrew’s “Papa Bill”, who taught him how to play golf, provided lessons, and even bought him his first set of clubs. They frequently played on the Reynolds Park Golf Course creating a deep love for the game that has lasted a lifetime. Andrew’s uncle, Mark Motsinger, teamed up with Andrew and Bill and played tournaments together every year until Bill’s passing, and they continued to carry his legacy of kindness today. Andrew and Mark will team up again on October 7th playing in the 26th Annual Bill Bowman Memorial Golf Challenge on the golf course on which he learned the game, 51 years since Papa Bill introduced Andrew to the sport. Please help support Andrew and the local Winston-Salem community by making a tax-deductible donation directly to the Lions Club. All proceeds go directly to the programs and services the club offers.

In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation that designated June 14 as Flag Day. On August 3, 1949, National Flag Day was officially established by an Act of Congress. Flag Day is not an official federal holiday. On June 14, 1937, Pennsylvania became the first state to celebrate Flag Day as a state holiday, beginning in the town of Rennerdale. New York Consolidated Laws designate the second Sunday in June as Flag Day, a state holiday. In 1949 President Truman signed an Act of Congress to make Flag Day official.
