Average target allocations to infrastructure are at 5.50%, up 42 bps in 2024, as allocations to infrastructure continue to grow at a healthy pace. Globally, institutional investors favor higher returning Value-Add and Core+ infrastructure strategies. Institutions in The Americas have the greatest appetite for higher return strategies, favoring Value-Add infrastructure investments. Core investments remain out-of-favor. Institutional investors’ three-year average return in private infrastructure of 10.1% surpasses current target returns by 78 bps, in part attributed to “inflation participation”, an arguably unique attribute of infrastructure investing. This three-year average increased year-over-year, as the poor performance of COVID-impacted 2020 has rolled out of the average.
