In coming weeks residents will benefit from the new Fulton County Behavioral Health Crisis Center, which will offer 24/7 care for people experiencing a mental health crisis. Today was the latest milestone in this project, as we celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony. I am proud to say that this project represents the best in government -- a collaboration among Fulton County Government, the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities, and the federal government, through the American Rescue Plan Act. From conception through bipartisan funding support from the Georgia General Assembly through tremendous collaboration with partners at Grady Health System, hundreds of people have given of themselves to make this facility a reality. I am especially proud of the leadership and advocacy by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, County Manager Dick Anderson, and Chief Operating Officer Pamela Roshell, PhD, MSW. We were honored to hear today from Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts and Vice Chair Khadijah Abdur-Rahman, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Senator Sonya Halpern, President Biden's Domestic Policy Advisor Neera Tanden, Georgia Commissioner of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities Kevin Tanner, Fulton County's Director of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities LaTrina Foster, and County Manager Anderson. Well over 150 people attended today's ceremony, which tells a story in itself . The Oak Hill facility is 7 miles from Atlanta Medical Center and less than 2 miles from the now closed hospital in East Point -- located in the heart of a geographic area that has faced decreased health access overall. Fulton County is fully committed to investing to increase health access for our residents. This facility will continue to house public health services and other services to increase access to care. Special congratulations to the project team for creating, a purpose-built space for healing and transformation -- with construction starting less than a year ago -- including Fulton County's Joe Davis, Timothy Dimond, CPM, Sam Bakare, as well as Hogan Construction Group, TVS, Sizemore Group, The Collaborative Firm, LLC, and Travis Pruitt & Associates, Inc. Finally, a big thanks to my team for their hard work as always in pulling together the event, coordinating with elected officials, and assisting the reporters telling this story. Thank you all!

The Fulton County Behavioral Health Crisis Center is officially open! As the first publicly funded health crisis center of its kind in Fulton County, it is a monumental resource that will cultivate an environment of strength and endurance for those who need it and will be operated by GRADY. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Ms. Neera Tanden, Domestic Policy Advisor to the White House, for coming out to the grand opening. We would also like to thank Sizemore Group who did the program and preliminary Design, and our partners TVS, The Collaborative Firm, LLC, PES Structural Engineers, J & A Engineering Consultants, & TLC Engineering Solutions, for their appearance and work on this project as well! Check out the sleek, modern look on the Gwinnett County One Stop Health & Human Services Center in Centerville, GA! The 33,342 SF building, which is located right behind the Centerville Branch library, now offers additional space for the Gwinnett, Newton, and Rockdale Health Departments, Viewpoint Health and the Head Start early childhood learning program.
