"More than 4,000 Allied troops died on D-Day. But even amid the tremendous loss of life, some survived. And on this 80th anniversary, some of those who are still living came here to remember. Steve Melnikoff, a 104-year-old from Cockeysville, Md., is one of those last veterans." There are only a few remaining WWII veterans alive to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. We honor those who have served and are actively serving. https://lnkd.in/e-7ikQ5k

Our very own Director of Social Services, Kathryn McCutchan accepted the City of Lynnwood proclamation in celebration and in honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month. 1st Photo: She is pictured her with her daughter, Fetoloai Oliana and her partner, Toetasi Tuiteleleapaga. 2nd Photo: Fetoloai with her aunt, Freida Thomsen, who is dressed in the red puletasi. Her daughter is dressed in the beautiful Samoan "taupou", historically referred to as the village maiden and usually a daughter of a High Chief in the village. Her role in the traditional welcoming ceremony is to mix the ava that will then be served by orators to all chiefs that are gathered (those of the receiving and visiting clans). The ava ceremony is the highest honor and respect that is given to visitors in our culture. On behalf of Homage CEO Keith Bell and management and staff, Kathryn thanked the Honorable Mayor, Council President and esteemed members of the council "for their honor and recognition of the AAPI community and for supporting organizations such as Homage who work diligently to meet the unique needs of multicultural racial/ethnic older adults." #AsianPacificHeritageMonth
