Hacker - Problem Solver - Home Assistant Product Manager @ Nabu Casa

📣 ATTENTION ATTENTION PRODUCT MANAGERS 👀 TL;DR: We're hiring a second Product manager, and I'm going to tell you why it's a great position, in a great company. 🎯 Apply here: https://lnkd.in/e8YrPirh About 1.5 years ago I decided to quit my former company and come to work at Nabu Casa, on Home Assistant The setup is exciting, and, I am almost certain, pretty far from what you are used to. ⭐ Home Assistant is the second most active Open-Source project on GitHub. The product is built by 17000 contributors around the globe! For an open-source project of that scale, some structure needs to be built so that the product strives. That structure is called Nabu Casa, Nabu Casa is a company that exists to sustain and lead the development of Home Assistant. 🔒 While Home Assistant could be seen as "just another Smart Home Platform", it is built on extremely important values of Privacy, Sustainability, and Choice. It is the platform for the people who care about - Buying any devices they want without ever feeling locked in an ecosystem - Governing their own data without ever feeling spied on by big companies - Repairing what they already own before throwing away, and generating e-waste. - Building a smart home that is as personalized as their home. 💸 This sharp mission allows us to attract many talented contributors and supporters, and to strive without a single investor. We have no investors, we work hand in hand with our users, for our users. Home Assistant is built by its users. As Paulus Schoutsen often says: "Actions speak louder than words", this is why we even donated Home Assistant to a non-profit foundation so that it will never be bought or sold for profit (https://lnkd.in/e6sJ8dHy) 🚀 Our product is seen as one of the most capable home automation platforms by the industry. The Verge listed us as part of the 5 main home automation players - Next to products and companies with antagonist visions of the smart home. (https://lnkd.in/enftzKhi) 💪🏻 It's not all sunshine and rainbows, our product is known for its complexity and difficulties to adopt. This is why 1.5 years ago we built a product team inside Nabu Casa, led by Madelena M., with Designer Matthias de Baat and UX researcher Annika Sabrina Schulz (And myself) And today we're looking to expand the team with a second Product Manager. 🎯 Do you want to work with me on a nerdy geeky product? Apply here: https://lnkd.in/e8YrPirh

Founder Home Assistant & Nabu Casa. University of Twente alumni.

Home Assistant at event for startups Enschede Slush'D? Yes! Yesterday I went back to my old university University of Twente to give a presentation about Home Assistant to a room full of startups and investors. Instead of focusing on what we've built, I talked about how we're building it: as a 100% independent open source platform owned by the Open Home Foundation. A platform untouchable by investors and enshittification. An everlasting platform that exists solely to serve its users. Photo by Antoine Moghaddar (Shotmaniacs) and Eric Brinkhorst.
