We make independent living possible through exceptional home care solutions.
About us
Homebridge was founded in 1985 by a group of non-profit community-based organizations who wanted to improve the delivery of IHSS services in San Francisco. These organizations included Independent Living Resource Center, Self-Help for the Elderly, Mission Neighborhood Centers, Kimochi, Inc., Bayview-Hunters Point Multipurpose Senior Services Center, and Catholic Charities. Over time, we evolved to become one agency while retaining deep relationships with our partners in service. In March 2015, we changed our name from In-Home Supportive Services Consortium to Homebridge. Throughout our history, Homebridge has developed and refined an approach to home care that combines client services, extensive training and supervision of caregivers, and coordination with other public and private organizations to provide the services needed for clients to continue living independently at home. Our integrated approach has resulted in steady and significant organizational growth, fueled by growing public and private support.

Two weeks ago, we marked the formal end of the IHSS Career Pathways Program, a bittersweet moment for all of us. Yesterday, our incredible Career Pathways team came together to commemorate the journey in true team fashion—by throwing a “funeral” ⚱️ for the program, filled with laughter 😂 and celebration 🎉. This lighthearted send-off was a perfect reflection of the joy and camaraderie that has defined our team’s culture. 🙌 For many of us, the chance to support California’s dedicated caregivers was not just a job but the highlight of our careers. In just two years, this team achieved remarkable milestones: ✔️ 75,548 providers from all 58 counties across California completed at least one training with Homebridge. ✔️ We successfully organized 18,538 live-online and in-person training sessions. ✔️ An astounding 56,284 support tickets were answered between January 2023 and July 2024. ✔️ Our online community has grown to 14,814 providers and counting. ✔️ 69,000 learners completed an incredible 2.5 million self-paced courses. The impact of this program is nothing short of extraordinary ✨, and each member of this team played a key role in making it possible. Here’s to the memories we’ve created and the lasting legacy of the IHSS Career Pathways Program! 🥂❤️

🎉 Celebrating Our First VESL Graduates! 🎉 Homebridge is thrilled to announce the graduation of our very first cohort from the Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) Home Care Immersion Training Program! These 19 graduates have not only conquered language barriers but have also mastered essential home care skills, preparing them to make a meaningful impact as home care professionals.🌟 This unique "earn-while-you-learn" program provides immigrant workers—previously excluded from the workforce due to language barriers—with paid training in both English and caregiving. 🙌 Special thanks to our dedicated instructors, program staff, and VESL team, whose hard work made this incredible achievement possible. This initiative wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of the California Workforce Development Board and our wonderful partners: SF Office of Economic & Workforce Development, SEIU Local 2015, Mission Economic Development Agency, Lao Family Community Development, Inc., and Middlebury Language Schools. Together, we’re breaking down barriers and building a more inclusive workforce! 💪 #ESL #VESL #englishasasecondlanguage #homecare #workforcedevelopment Gertrudys Canales Dennis Gallegos @Cindy Moy Morella Madriz @Ripa Shaha @Abraham Becker Shannon Cunningham Min Chang Kayt Norris Shantel W. @Karina Vazquez Dorcas Maxin Nick Blumenthal Meaghan Shanahan Serena Maria Jonathon Martinez Antony Vo Sam Drake Lali Sells, aPHR Ayebale Ivan Gunter Mario José D. ❤️ Our community is stronger together! ❤️ The City and County of San Francisco depend on nonprofits to uplift those in need. Without this partnership, many individuals would face unimaginable hardships. At Homebridge, we are proud to work alongside the city to ensure that older adults, individuals with disabilities, and those with complex care needs can live safely at home with dignity, independence, and the community support they need every day. #SFNonprofitsWork #SocialSafetyNet

Homebridge was honored to host California State Senator, District 11, Scott Wiener at our office last week! 🏛️✨ Senator Wiener took a full tour of our space and connected with our Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) students. He then led a Q&A with our team, diving into key topics close to our mission and essential to our community’s well-being, like mental health services, tackling homelessness, and affordable housing. 🙌 🎉 We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our first cohort for the Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) Home Care Immersion Training Program, which began in early July 2024. This initiative provides a unique "earn-while-you-learn" opportunity, offering paid training in both English language and home care skills to immigrant workers previously excluded from the workforce due to language barriers. Homebridge has always been dedicated to supporting our linguistically diverse workforce, representing over 30 different languages. Unlike our previous programs, which focused on traditional language courses, the VESL program is specifically designed to integrate home care language training with on-the-job skill development. “With my new skills and my English, I am able to give the clients so much more. For me, this program is perfect. I don't know how to show my appreciation other than doing the best work and supporting my clients.” VESL program participant. This program is a collaborative effort, made possible through a grant from the California Workforce Development Board and in partnership with key community organizations, including the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development, SEIU Local 2015, Mission Economic Development Agency, Lao Family Community Development, Inc., and the Middlebury Language Schools, renowned for their expertise in language training. 👨🏫 🎆 #ESL #VESL #englishasasecondlanguage #homecare #workforcedevelopment Min Chang Kayt Norris Shantel W.
