This week, the largest concentrated crack down on speeding in the world, by total numbers of police professionals involved and drivers checked is happening throughout Europe. The same time last year more than 650.000 speeding violations were detected during a similar week long operation. The offence of exceeding speed limits is recognised as the most common cause in all European countries of its 70 deaths recorded every day on its roads .  In Spain, the Guardia Civil will be stopping foreign drivers at fixed controls for excessive speed and distracted driving, often caused by fatigue and drowsiness from long trips. Many foreign drivers, its suggested have a feeling of impunity and a belief that speed violations will not be reported in their home countries. At the same time in Poland, tailgating, the practice of driving too closely behind another vehicle, is seen as a significant cause of accidents on highways, posing a major hazard to road safety. To combat this issue, advanced traffic enforcement technologies like their Vitronic's Poliscan (VP) system has been developed to effectively enforce safe driving distances. VP uses LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology which emits laser pulses in a “fan” of laser beams at over 15,000 light pulses per second to create a precise, real-time spatial picture of the traffic situation, enabling accurate measurement of vehicle positions, speeds, and distances between them. #drivingineurope,#antispeedoperation

This weeks adventure was teaching at the Hawaii Narcotic Officers Association. Great group of cops and a fantastic conference. A bit of nostalgia as this was the last training my unit went to and was whole before we lost Jared.
