In honor of World Mental Health Day, Homes for America is proud to highlight our partnership with the Mental Health Association of Maryland (MHAMD). Together, we provide monthly mental health workshops to the residents at Bay Forest, covering important topics such as loss & grief, brain health, anti-bullying, identifying depression, and recognizing suicide risks. These workshops not only educate but also connect residents to local resources and mental health professionals. We’re excited to announce plans to expand these services to our Bowman, Glen Forest, and Baltimore senior communities. Recent survey results from the Thome Grant period show that 52% of participants reported improved mental health, and 61% learned strategies to support their well-being. This World Mental Health Day, we reaffirm our commitment to creating healthy, supportive communities for all. Making Homes Come True - creating & preserving quality, affordable housing communities that foster resident success
About us
Homes for America (HFA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating and preserving quality, affordable housing communities that foster resident success and well-being. Since its founding in 1994, HFA has been a pivotal force in the Mid-Atlantic region, focusing primarily on Maryland and expanding efforts in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. With a mission to provide stable, service-enriched housing, HFA connects residents with essential services and opportunities, ensuring they live with dignity and respect. Our approach is rooted in a holistic understanding of housing as more than just a physical space. At HFA, we believe a home should support health, education, and economic stability. This philosophy drives us to offer a range of resident services, including health and wellness programs, financial assistance, educational opportunities, and community connectivity initiatives. Our Service-Enhanced Housing model ensures that residents are active participants in shaping the programs and services available in their communities. HFA’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is reflected in all aspects of our work. We strive to create inclusive communities where every resident feels safe, respected, and supported. Our development projects prioritize sustainability and environmental stewardship, aligning with our goals to reduce our ecological footprint and build climate-resilient communities. By leveraging partnerships with public, private, and community-based agencies, we provide comprehensive support that enhances residents' quality of life. As we continue to grow and evolve, HFA remains focused on its core values: resident-centered decision-making, high-quality services, dismantling structural racism in housing, and fiscal responsibility. Our dedication to these principles ensures that we not only meet the housing needs of today but also pave the way for a brighter, more equitable future for all our residents.

Congratulations to Homes for America, Inc. for convening an amazing group of housing advocates to celebrate their 30th anniversary. It was great to see so many clients, friends, and elected officials in attendance. Jerusalem Demsas is not only a great writer, but also a great speaker. And without notes! Comptroller Brooke Lierman offered the quote of the morning: “You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to desist from it” - From the Pirkei Avot #Housing #MDHousing #AffordableHousing
