Whenever you hear AI will replace Recruiters (or Talent Acquisition Partners), please remember the big challenge in recruiting and hiring: Many opinions, personalities, and human stakeholders are involved beyond the Recruiter. Recruiters are researchers, project managers, salespeople, micro-managers, marketers, admins, career counselors, and leaders who must get a large group of people on the same page about what a hiring manager needs (vs. wants). Then, recruiters go to market to attract the right candidates and help them navigate a long gauntlet of personalities and stakeholders to get the hiring team to consensus (and finally, recruiters must close the top candidate 👏). AI will absolutely be helpful with certain aspects of sourcing, scheduling, marketing, recruiting, interviewing, evaluating, and hiring, but removing the human recruiter altogether seems unlikely in the near term, especially when closing the best candidates requires trust, transparency, and rapport. Hiring is one of the most critical and costly business decisions (💰), and changing careers is deeply personal (😱). Until we start making less important business decisions using AI, should we use it for our most important decisions?
