This latest construction update flyover video 📹 shows the progress of City Center Utilities Relocation work along the project alignment near the future Kahauiki (Middle Street Transit Center) Station to Ka‘ākaukukui (Civic Center) Station. This work will clear the way for the construction of the upcoming City Center Guideway and Stations (CCGS) in Segment 3. DILLINGHAM UTILITIES RELOCATION: HART’s contractor, Nan, Inc., is currently working in the Kalihi area. The completion of the Dillingham utilities relocation work is expected in the first quarter of 2026. DOWNTOWN UTILITIES RELOCATION: HART’s contractor, FVCCC is currently working in the downtown area. The completion of this project is expected in the second quarter of 2025. Transit Equity Day occurs every February 4 nationwide to honor the birthday of Rosa Parks, a civil rights activist known for her role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Parks has been recognized by the United States Congress as “the first lady of civil rights,” and “the mother of the freedom movement.” Skyline, TheBus and TheHandi-Van are accessible and inclusive modes of public transportation in Honolulu, offering sustainable mobility options for Oʻahu' s residents of all races and socioeconomic groups, from keiki to kūpuna, to reach jobs, education, healthcare, and other essential services. Expanded public transportation options create safer streets by reducing the number of cars and fossil fuel dependencies, which contribute to climate change, minimizing transportation's environmental impact. Investments in transportation are also proven to encourage economic growth by bringing business opportunities to equitable transit-oriented communities. Seamless and connected transit mobility uplifts everyone in our island community. Vibrant, resilient cities depend on transit as a basic need. Station construction is expected to reach substantial completion by early 2025, and trial running of the trains will begin by Summer 2025. The guideway past Aloha Stadium through Middle Street will be transferred to DTS in late 2025. Segment 2 is expected to open by 2026.
