About us
Hospice of Michigan provides specialized health care services for people who are living with a terminal illness as well as services and support for their loved ones. These services, commonly referred to as palliative care, focus on comfort measures and symptom management. Palliative care is directed by the patient and family, in concert with the patient’s physician or hospice medical director. Nurses, social workers, hospice aides, spiritual care advisors and trained volunteers work as an expert team to provide care. The team focuses on providing comfort and pain relief when a cure is not possible. The goal is to help each person live as fully as possible and to help the family and loved ones participate in the person’s care.

We were honored to share time with the families we serve to hear about the care they received on our service yesterday with Mitch Albom at a special luncheon we had to record family hospice stories, along with fellow NorthStar Care Community members Arbor Hospice and Centrica Care Navigators
Yesterday we were pleased to host Mitch Albom and his team who interviewed several families who shared their hospice stories. Everyone got a copy of Mitch's new book, "The Little Liar." Lloyd Car, former UM head football coach, and Channel 4 sportscaster Bernie Smilovitz attended our luncheon as well to share their stories. Families of patients served by members of the NorthStar Care community attended, including Arbor Hospice, Centrica Care Navigators, and Hospice of Michigan. Thanks so much to Mitch and his team!
