  • Meet Julie! 😊 Julie is a CNA in Guthrie Center, IA who has been part of the Hospice of the Midwest team for 2 years. Q: What do you think is special about hospice? A: “Hospice is special because I am able to provide care near and right at the end of life. I KNOW I make a difference to the patient and to the family members. That is my favorite part.” Q: What do you love most about your job? A: “My team is what I love most about my job. The communication takes a very close second, but that is entirely based on my team. Love, respect, and compassion for our patients – and also for each other – is another aspect of my team.” Q: What advice do you have for someone considering a career in hospice? A: “My advice for someone considering a career in hospice is to know themselves and what they can handle. Hospice deals with many aspects of a person’s life, including death and bereavement.” Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time? A: “My free time is spent with my family and my animals (3 boys, 1 girl, and multiple kinds of furry and feathered companions). I enjoy most anything if it’s done with my kids and grandkids. Camping, fishing, and movie time are some of my favorites. My alone time is always spent with a good book and my husband. Q: Anything else you’d like to share? A: “I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, so moving to the agricultural area has taken a learning curve. I have always lived in small towns, except for college. I am a member of my local Library Friends group, and my church’s women’s group. I help with fundraisers and believe in giving back to the community. For years, I worked with local animal shelters, volunteering, fostering, transporting, and anything else that needed to be done. I managed the local spay and neuter clinic and loved working with the Vets when they completed surgeries.” Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself with us, Julie! And thank you for all you do for our patients and their loved ones! We are proud to have you on our team. #employeespotlight #employeeappreciation
