Hospice of New Mexico is dedicated to offering support, education, guidance, and resources for patients receiving hospice and palliative care, as well as their families and the broader community. In 2024, we are celebrating a decade since the World Health Assembly (WHO's Governing Body) adopted its unique resolution on palliative care. This resolution urged all nations to enhance palliative care services as part of holistic care across all stages of life. We share with you some comparisons between Hospice and Palliative care: - Hospice is for terminal patients with 6 months or less to live. - Palliative care is for any stage of serious illness, alongside curative treatments. - Both focus on comfort, pain management, and quality of life. - Hospice care is often at home; palliative care can be in hospitals or clinics. - Both involve a multidisciplinary care team. - Hospice is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance plans; palliative care varies. #WHPCDay24 #10YearsOn #Hospice #PalliativeCare

This October, we’re dedicating Breast Cancer Awareness Month to more than just spreading awareness—we want to emphasize that "No one should face breast cancer alone." Breast cancer is the most common cancer globally, with around 2.3 million new cases diagnosed every year. It represents one in eight cancer cases across both sexes, making it a crucial focus for education and action. We kick off the month with our "Go Pink" initiative, encouraging you to wear a pink ribbon or any pink clothing item to symbolize solidarity with the countless lives affected by breast cancer. It's also a reminder to educate yourself about the signs, symptoms, and available treatment options.
