Today, we're learning from the most creative man in hospitality, Michaelangelo L'Acqua: https://lnkd.in/gfuZf7Am Michaelangelo has lived an incredible life, from classical violinist to being recruited by Tom Ford to be music director for Gucci and Saint Laurent. From there, he became the Global Music Director for W Hotels, and today, he serves as the Global Director of Entertainment and Culture for SH Hotels & Resorts. "The hospitality industry is a canvas for creativity," he told me before we dove into so many elements of creativity, including: • How sound shapes the guest experience • Creating brand identity through music and culture • Collaborating with artists to elevate your offerings Michaelangelo also reveals his formula for crafting 'moments of awe' that turn first-time visitors into loyal customers - something I found fascinating. Don't feel bad if you don't attend trade shows like HITEC - they're not only useless, but they could throw you off. Jordan and I discuss this today:
Host of Hospitality Daily: #1 podcast on LinkedIn, #1 on Google, helping 300,000+ hoteliers each month delight people, make money, and thrive by learning from the best in the business
Hotel tech trade shows are not only a waste of time; they're dangerous. 2 reasons why: 1) It's an ineffective way to evaluate software - do you seriously believe a demo by a salesperson at a conference will help you understand what it's like to use something in the real world? 2) It gives the illusion that if a company has a big booth or throws a great party, they also provide the best technology (sounds crazy writing that, but I've seen this thinking first hand) I appreciate Jordan Hollander calling this out in our conversation today on Hospitality Daily What's your take on this?

Could a hotel fight burnout and loneliness in our society? Today, Penny Brown shares how she does this: https://lnkd.in/g8HyJGkW Penny is the managing director of the Burgh Island Hotel and has an incredible track record of leading hospitality organizations with some of the best brands in the industry. Today in our conversation, she shares the secrets behind creating a holistic guest experience - from a thoughtful welcome (with champagne!) to the tech-free rooms that are designed for healthy disconnection. We explore how her team anticipates guest needs through personalized pre-arrival calls and the transformative power of themed events that spark meaningful interactions among guests. Later in our conversation, you'll also hear how Penny's unique perspective on wellness has shaped the hotel's offerings. They've created spaces where guests can relax and recharge - and perhaps most interestingly, Penny reveals the unexpected ways that her hotel is tackling the issue of loneliness by creating lasting friendships and memories that guests enjoy for years to come. I really enjoyed this conversation and think you will as well. 🎧 Listen now on the Hospitality Daily Podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts 📺 Watch our conversation on the Hospitality Daily YouTube channel ➕ Follow Hospitality Daily here for more stories like this

Are we missing a huge solution to the staffing shortage in hospitality that's right in front of us? Today on the Hospitality Daily Podcast, Penny Brown spoke about her experience hiring older folks - and the benefits it has brought to both her teams and her guests. I think she's on to something, so I put together some clips from some others I look up to who have spoken about this on the Hospitality Daily Podcast in the past: Jeffrey Korzenik, Tom Luersen, and David Jones. What do you think? Is this something we need to focus on? Let me know in the comments below... 🎧 Listen to the Hospitality Daily Podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts 📺 See more videos like this on the Hospitality Daily YouTube channel ➕ Follow Hospitality Daily here for more stories like this
