About us
HOURCAR is a Minnesota-based nonprofit carsharing organization. In February 2019, HOURCAR announced a unique partnership with the City of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Xcel Energy, and others, in an electric vehicle mobility project, now known as the EV Spot Network, launched May 13, 2022. The EV Spot Network provides 100% renewably-powered on-street EV charging spaces, known as an EV Spot, in addition to over 150 one-way shared electric mobility vehicles under the Evie Carshare service, and is the largest network of its kind in the western hemisphere. In late 2021, HOURCAR announced its income-based membership plan, Access PLUS, offering self-certification to those who wish to join. In mid-2022, HOURCAR launched the Multifamily Project, in partnership with Xcel Energy, American Lung Association, and East Metro Strong, to bring hub-based shared electric vehicles to low-income and market-rate apartment buildings in the Twin Cities Region.

At Riverton Community Housing, we believe in creating spaces where neighbors become like family. Our recent garden party at Franklin Housing Co-op was the perfect example of this in action! Great partnership between Ramsey, Hennepin Counties and NOAA to look at the urban heat island effect in the Twin Citiesso we can be more precise in focusing resources in the communities that need them most. We're about one month away from our priority deadline for our final round of Multifamily Electric Vehicle Pilot Project applications! All multi-dwelling units are encouraged to apply, with a primary focus on income-based properties located in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. This pilot project, in partnership with Xcel Energy, will install chargers at 25 sites and provide a total of 50 hub-based shared electric vehicles. Headed towards East Saint Paul, the East Side Expansion is providing 5 EV Spots along the Metro Transit's Gold Line BRT, and another 5 EV Spots into the East Side, expanding the current Evie Carshare Home Area.
