The Chamber’s Education & Workforce Foundation held its first ever East End Youth Leadership Program session yesterday with a spectacular field trip to Port Houston! This year, 26 students from RYSS Early College T-Stem & Stem Academy will participate in the program focused on career exploration and developing employability skills. The day began with an educational Sam Houston Boat Tour, where students learned about the Port’s operations and had a close-up view of international cargo vessels in action. In the afternoon, Port Houston employees led a panel discussion, sharing their career stories and emphasizing the importance of employability skills like motivation, conflict resolution, and time management in their professional and personal lives. The day concluded with a fun team-building activity, highlighting the value of collaboration and the role these skills play in achieving success. Thank you to Chamber Member, Port Houston for hosting this impactful day! This program wouldn’t be possible without our supporters Union Pacific Railroad, TPC Group and Kirby Marine.
