Supporting foster youth in creating the lives they deserve.

About us

Our mission is to support youth in foster care, ages 14-18, through community mentoring and resources. We strive to provide a support system that teaches life skills, preparing youth for adulthood and real-world challenges. We do this by facilitating the building of relationships with caring mentors, who will serve as an ongoing network of support as they age out of foster care.

Updates

  • "I know the importance of pouring into people because I had people pour into me growing up." - a Houston PEARLS Foundation mentor Everyone needs to know how much they are valued and loved, to be "poured into" by a caring adult. For our teens, having this stable, dedicated person is especially important. Next week, #givingtuesday2023 is an opportunity for you -- no matter who you are or where you live -- to help pour into the teens in our program. Generosity has many forms, and can look like anything from mentorship to giving a simple donation. If you're looking for a way to give back for the holiday season, please consider a gift to the Houston PEARLS Foundation. To donate, visit the link in our bio or go to www.houstonpearls.org. Thank you!

The Houston PEARLS Foundation is pleased to announce that they have been chosen to receive a $25,000 grant from the Texas Bar Foundation! We are so excited and grateful for their support. The Houston PEARLS Foundation is a mentoring and leadership program founded by three local judges who recognized the need for children leaving foster care at age 18 to have a support system of trusted adults in place, to encourage and advocate for them as they learn to live on their own. In addition to the founding judges, the program is supported by many other judges, lawyers, and local law school staff who act as mentors, volunteers and facilitators for the program. Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $26 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation's largest charitably-funded bar foundation. The money received from the Texas Bar Foundation will allow the Houston PEARLS Foundation to continue to provide support and advocacy to kids in the foster care in the Houston area. The Houston PEARLS Foundation’s mission is to assist and support youth in foster care, ages 14-18, through community mentoring and leadership. They do this through creating and building relationships with mentors in their communities and working to help youth heal from past trauma, build resilience, make and reach educational goals, develop healthy relationships and become accomplished adults, role models and leaders. The Houston PEARLS Foundation meets twice a month where the kids and adults share a meal and an activity. In addition to the monthly meetings, they do things in the community such as hiking, sailing, playing softball and going to museums. The Houston PEARLS Foundation hosts a large annual College and Career Fair and invites all kids in foster care in the Houston area. They also participate in Days of Giving where they perform community service to give back to their community. To learn more visit houstonpearls.org.
