  • We are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with gratitude and growth! Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to reflect on and celebrate the rich culture, contributions, and history of the Hispanic community. Starting in 2004 as a "church without walls", Puentes has grown exponentially over the past 20 years! Since 2020, Puentes has tripled the number of individuals served by expanding their reach to rural communities and offering virtual services. This growth has been made possible through the formation of strategic partnerships with local nonprofits and civic organizations throughout the metro east and southern Illinois area. Thank you to everyone who has supported Puentes and helped us achieve these milestones. Together, we'll continue to build bridges!

  • We are thrilled to share that our teams have now fully settled into their new spaces, and we are officially occupying the entire building!  To mark this special occasion, the Puentes team led a heartfelt blessing ceremony, beautifully delivered in both Spanish and English. It was a truly moving event that highlighted the unity and diversity within our organization. We couldn't be more excited about the opportunities ahead!

  • September 10 marks World Suicide Prevention Day, a critical time to raise awareness and take action to prevent the tragic loss of life to suicide. Over 48,100 individuals in the United States lose their lives to suicide annually, making it the 11th leading cause of death nationwide. At Hoyleton, we recognize the pivotal role our staff play in providing support, prevention, and treatment. They are often the first point of contact, offering psychotherapy, counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy for our youth and families. We also encourage our community to utilize available resources to help those in need: 🔹 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline - A leader in suicide prevention and mental health crisis care. 🔹 Veterans Crisis Line - Serving Veterans, service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and their supporters. 🔹 National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) - Providing essential information on mental disorders and the latest research. 🔹 National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - Dedicated to building better lives for millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Share this message, reach out to those who may be struggling, and remember that help is always available. You are not alone. We believe recovery is possible.

  • Congratulations to the Puentes de Esperanza team for providing services to Spanish speaking families throughout Southern Illinois for 20 years! Puentes services include case management, interpretation and translation, outreach and educational workshops, bilingual counseling, and more. In 2004 Hoyleton partnered with the Illinois South Conference and local UCC churches to start a Latino Ministry to meet the needs of the growing Hispanic population in Southern Illinois. This ministry has grown and adapted services to consistently meet the community's needs. Since 2020, Puentes de Esperanza has tripled the number of individuals served by expanding services to rural communities and offering virtual services! Puentes de Esperanza is regarded as one of the most important resources to the immigrant population, especially limited English speaking immigrants.
