Congratulations to the United Center Joint Venture and the Reinsdorf and Wirtz families on unveiling plans for The 1901 Project — a significant private investment for Chicago’s West Side. The project includes mixed-use development with housing, retail, a 6,000-seat capacity theater-style music hall, hotel, and a one-of-a-kind elevated public park surrounding the iconic home to the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks. HR&A Advisors was proud to collaborate with the United Center and RIOS to provide real estate advisory services and economic impact analysis for the project. The 1901 Project will leverage the energy, visitation, and brand of the United Center to transform a sea of parking lots into Chicago’s next great neighborhood. HR&A’s analysis indicates that at the project’s maximum potential, the investment will produce an estimated $4.5 billion in stabilized annual economic impact across the region from the new neighborhood and United Center. In addition to thousands of construction jobs to build the development, once complete, the project is estimated to spur around 12,000 permanent jobs at the site and across the region, providing economic opportunity for Chicago’s West Side community, as well as more than $100 million in stabilized annual tax revenue for the City of Chicago, Cook County, and State of Illinois. #economicdevelopment #placemaking #chicago #UnitedCenter #The1901ProjectChi

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Office of Community Planning and Development has awarded $85 million in Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) funding to identify and remove barriers to affordable housing production and preservation. This first-of-its-kind funding aims to identify and remove barriers to affordable housing production and preservation, ultimately lowering housing costs. Congratulations to the 21 winners across 19 states and D.C., including several HR&A Advisors' clients: - LA County: $6.7M to support housing goals in unincorporated areas — improving utility infrastructure, creating Transit Oriented Districts, and coordinating regional land use strategies. - Hawaii: $6.6M to establish a statewide infrastructure bank, increase staff capacity, and address local regulations. - Metro Washington Council of Governments, DC/MD/VA: $3.5M to update local policies, create affordable homeownership opportunities, and prevent displacement. We're thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) and their impressive innovation and growth. In 2021–2022, HR&A Advisors had the privilege of supporting the Golden Triangle BID by conducting a feasibility study and crafting an implementation strategy for this new innovation district. Our comprehensive action plan included a tech ecosystem assessment, sector and workforce analysis, branding and marketing recommendations, and strategies to advance equitable outcomes for D.C. residents. We are proud to see the BID thriving with several notable successes that align with our recommendations. The launch of the Global Soft Landing Program is leveraging anchor institutions like The George Washington University, The World Bank, IFC - International Finance Corporation, and IDB. Recently, two prominent venture capital firms have established their DC presence within the BID, further solidifying its position as a hub of innovation and growth.
