  • More Sales team content coming your way 🤩 Today from our very own Austin Carpenter 🥳 "Hello! I’m Austin Carpenter, and I’m currently a Business Development Representative (BDR) at HubSpot, where I focus on connecting businesses with solutions that help them grow. I chose HubSpot for its incredible culture and commitment to employee development. Joining the company straight out of Stetson University, where I minored in Sales and competed on the Centurion Sales team, I was eager to apply what I learned in a real-world environment. From day one, I felt welcomed by my team; everyone has been incredibly approachable and willing to share their knowledge. As I just started my journey here, I found that I was well-prepared for building relationships and communicating effectively, thanks to my academic background and competition experience. However, I wasn’t as prepared for the fast-paced nature of the role—juggling multiple leads and adapting to different client needs can be challenging, but it’s also what makes the job exciting! A typical day for me involves engaging with potential clients, understanding their needs, and introducing them to HubSpot's tools that can make a real difference in their businesses. The learning curve has been steep, but my colleagues are always there to support me, making complex concepts much easier to grasp. What I love most about HubSpot is the work culture. The remote flexibility has been fantastic—I can balance my work responsibilities while enjoying my personal life. My team is spread across different locations, which adds a dynamic element to our collaboration. We’ve built strong relationships despite the distance, and I always look forward to our team meetings where we share ideas and strategies. Another standout aspect is the mentorship program. Each BDR is paired with a senior team member who acts as a mentor. My mentor has been invaluable, providing insights into my career development and helping me navigate the nuances of HubSpot's offerings. We have regular check-ins where I can seek feedback and discuss my progress, making me feel supported every step of the way. For students wishing to pursue a career in Sales but feeling uncertain, my advice would be to lean into every opportunity to practice your skills—whether through internships, competitions, or even part-time jobs. Sales is all about building relationships and understanding customer needs, so the more you engage with different people and scenarios, the better prepared you'll be. Don’t be afraid to reach out for mentorship; learning from those who’ve been in the field can provide invaluable insights. Working at HubSpot has been an amazing journey, filled with opportunities to learn and grow. I’m excited about the impact we’re making in the lives of our customers, and I can’t wait to see where this path leads me!" So what are you waiting for?! The team is hiring BDRs this second 😱 Head to our career page to apply now! 🚀

  • Can a student do 2 #Co-Ops at HubSpot? Well, Brian da Silva did and here he is today with his story for you 🥳 "Hi, my name is Brian and I’ve done two co-ops at HubSpot in 2022 and 2023 before joining as a full-time #engineer this August. During my co-ops, I worked in the CRM product group as a backend engineer and quickly started working on issues and bugs, which helped me grow my technical skills and get accustomed to the development process at #HubSpot. My team was very supportive and always willing to help when I had questions or problems, so this helped me to work on some interesting projects like designing an API for our properties system or redesigning one of our database tables. What I enjoyed most about my co-op was the independence and autonomy you’re given in the co-op to work on customer-impacting projects. This was very exciting, since you knew that what you were working on would touch many of our customers, and helped me to learn both how to think about customer viewpoints and apply those to our software design process. The autonomy also allowed me to learn a lot of skills and techniques in a shorter amount of time. This is one of the main reasons why I chose to come back! I also enjoyed working in our Cambridge office, which often held fun events and was a supportive and inclusive environment where you could ask questions or get help from others. For anyone navigating applying to internships or starting their first internship, don’t be afraid to ask questions! Oftentimes at the start I would hold off on asking questions to my team or co-workers due to feeling “dumb”, but everyone is willing to help, so it's often better to ask those questions earlier to get yourself unstuck!" We still have some Co-Op roles open for those based in the States! Apply via the links in the comments 🤩
