We’re excited to launch a new research project that will give us a better understanding of the vocational education and training (VET) workforce in the care and support sectors. As one of the initial actions set out in the Australian Government’s VET Workforce Blueprint, our research will help us to understand the roles, challenges and reasons why people join, stay or leave the VET workforce. We’re reaching out to people who work in the VET workforce and organisations who deliver vocational education and training to take part and share their insights in workshops, interviews and surveys. For more information, take a look at our website: https://lnkd.in/gjVbqHST This important research will help us to develop recommendations to make sure that we can grow support and sustain the VET workforce into the future. We can’t wait to get started! #HumanAbility #VET #vocationaleducation #training #care #support

HumanAbility’s Canberra Forum on Ngunnawal Country proved to be yet another highly valuable stop on our journey around Australia to hear from those working and teaching in the care and support industry. There were lively discussions centred on the challenges our five sectors experience in workforce and training alongside the opportunities and solutions already in play. A key issue raised was the competition for staff between employers and the public service due to the latter’s size and its ability to often offer higher wages. Other challenges which Forum participants noted included limited pathways, highly feminised roles, and the evolving needs of next-generation workers when it comes to attracting and retaining a skilled workforce. However, the ACT’s smaller size was also celebrated for its many advantages, particularly when it comes to forming strong partnerships and collaboration across training and service providers and governments to support placements and improved training outcomes. A huge thank you to Josephine Andersen and the Canberra Institute of Technology team for hosting us for the day. Your generosity was much appreciated as were the insights you shared. It’s fantastic to be working so closely with you and we look forward to continued collaboration. #HumanAbility #Canberra #Forum #workforcechallenges #workforceopportunities

HumanAbility is proud to acknowledge World Mental Health Day today. This year Mental Health Australia reminds us that meaningful connections matter — a theme that resonates deeply across the care and support sectors. We recognise the essential role our stakeholders in Aged Care and Disability Support, Children’s Education and Care, Health, Human Services, and Sport and Recreation play in fostering environments where everyone thrives. From advocating for personalised care to creating spaces that promote wellbeing and connection, these sectors are vital in supporting mental health and social and emotional well-being across communities. Let’s continue to champion the power of connection and work together for a healthy and inclusive future. #HumanAbility #WMHD24 #WorldMentalHealthDay #CareandSupport
