A World of Black Writers
About us
OUR MISSION Our mission is to discover, mentor and honor Black writers. OUR VISION We envision the Hurston/Wright Foundation as an organization that provides unique, impactful and memorable experiences of Black literary life that live far beyond the moment. We will strive to offer participants and supporters distinctive programs that enrich, fortify, and uplift the Black literary community. OUR VALUES Nurture: We believe literature by Black writers is essential to a healthy and enlightened society, therefore we invest in nurturing Black writers and creating opportunities for them to share their work. Community: We believe creativity thrives in environments that welcome different experiences and perspectives. We maintain open, safe, and respectful practices and we ask those who engage with us to do the same. Transparency: We believe in clarity, openness and accountability. We apply fair treatment and good stewardship to honor our commitments.
