When he walked us through his pragmatic way to commercialize, mobilize and scale in space transportation as a key part of that vision, I was sold. It’s undoubtedly exciting to see the vast changes across the AI landscape over the years, and specifically the utilization of AI models across various industries and scenarios. As the interest continues to accelerate in training new, unseen data, and allowing it to solve problems accurately, efficiently, and in real time, we (Type One Ventures) see a critical need for cost-effective and scalable inference. The challenges are clear: quality of data, computational resources required, and fundamentally cost parity (how do we lower the cost and make AI better at the same time?). I started to really understand the importance of inference and how it is the bridge that will further advance AI models into practical toolkits. When we met Jonathan Ross, Adam Tachner, Glenton Jelbert and the awesome people at Groq, we immediately got excited about their architecture and approach. Lessen the complexity of traditional processor models, build into higher performance and efficiency. This is not as easy as the team at Groq makes it look, but it’s wildly impressive.
