Whether implementing AI in the workplace or introducing D&I: —> They both open doors to new opportunities, but each comes with challenges. This theme was at the core of the discussion that our D&I Committee members provoked during their session at the recent IAMCP EMEA Illuminate conference in Cologne, Germany: “𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 & 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜.” Elena Baeva, Alexandra Hanke, Steve Brooks, Maria Skiathiti, and Manuela Doutel Haghighi held an interactive panel. The audience asked questions as much as our hosts provided thoughts and answers. The room was packed with over 70 attendees. *** The session aimed to provide ideas on how to implement AI in the workplace, where Maria shared the experience from Microsoft: Said Maria, “𝘞𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘩𝘶𝘨𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘥𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳. Manuela highlighted that it can be difficult to delegate people, but the same is true for tasks that now include AI. “𝘞𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘴. 𝘈𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘈𝘐 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦.” However, what sparked the most interest during the panel was not AI but the implementation of D&I. Our panelists shared best practices that start in the hiring process—from the right messaging in the job ad to tools and business models that attract diverse talent. “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵.
