Ilene Wasserman, Ph.D. and Dr. Jeff Branch are hosting a Virtual Trainer Gathering with Power+Systems Training, Inc. titled, "Seeing Systems in DEI Culture Shaping Initiatives" on Thursday, September 5 at 1:00 pm. More info below ⬇️ The capacity to understand relationships at a systems level is indeed vital when building an inclusive culture. At ICW Consulting Group, we incorporate the work of Power and Systems in our client engagements, especially with those who are committed to viewing multiple dimensions of diversity as a value-added aspect of team building. Our approach ensures equity, promotes full engagement, and sees inclusion as a critical competency for leaders and a quality of the culture that supports diverse teams. In this webinar, we will provide an overview of this 4-year client engagement and share how we adapted a 2.5-hour version of the Organization Workshop (OW) to promote systems literacy. The OW helped participants understand the dynamics of power and systems within their organization, building on the work we had already done to foster a deeper appreciation for the diverse perspectives and contributions of all team members through a strengths-based methodology. By focusing on these principles, we strengthened the commitment to build stronger, more inclusive teams that leverage the full potential of diversity to achieve organizational success. “Juneteenth is a celebration of just one way that Black people either created freedom or found it, often on their own terms. What we acknowledge this Juneteenth must be about more than what was given. It must be about what had already been claimed." -Daina Ramey Berry “The Truth About Black Freedom,” The Atlantic, June 19, 2023. Yesterday, as ICW Consulting Group observed Juneteenth, we were once again reminded of the importance of historical and ongoing liberative work. We celebrate the achievements of the African American community and took Juneteenth as an opportunity to pause and note the past, present, and potential future work of emancipation. In that spirit, ICW recognizes that our individual and collective freedoms are intertwined and remains committed to the work still needed to address anti-Black racism and structural inequality. In our Juneteenth reflections two quotes came to mind: --> “As we celebrate this day, we pray for the strength to stand against oppression, the wisdom to seek justice, and the compassion to build a world where all people are free and treated with dignity and respect.” -Rabbi Sandra Lawson -->“How wonderful it is that no one need wait a single moment to start to improve the world.” -Anne Frank In ICW's commitment to building on stories lived, stories told, and futures created, we remember that our task is to continue the work together.
