IDEAL4Gifted
Primary and Secondary Education
National online program for Advanced, Gifted, and Twice-exceptional students
About us
IDEAL4Gifted is an innovative program for academically advanced, gifted, and twice-exceptional students where they can learn to love learning again. It follows best practices in gifted education and brings joy, freedom, and mutual respect to the learning experience. Classes are small so everyone has a chance for attention and input. Teachers are live and in real-time, all the time. Classes have a lot of hands-on learning and dialogue. It’s definitely not one-size-fits-all. It’s a program where subject acceleration is alive and well, creativity and student interests are encouraged and supported, differentiation and enrichment are constants, and there are opportunities for leadership too. It provides challenges without frustration or boredom at a pace that moves comfortably and constantly forward. Students are placed subject-by-subject for the best fit so age is not a limiter. Classes usually have mixed ages. We understand the asynchronous development of students so we are very comfortable with adaptations according to student needs. We’re sensitive to their special social-emotional needs. Students are affirmed through their connections with other like-minded peers and the informal opportunities that they have to connect each day. Anxiety and stress are less because assessment is formative which is what propels lessons forward. It is common for students to cover more than a year’s worth of content in 30 weeks so regular classes are only Monday - Thursday. (Math, Science, Social Studies, ELA, Tech & Engineering, Visual Art, and Foreign Language) Fridays are devoted to field trips where we explore weird, whacky, and wonderful things in the world away from the screens. Fridays are also for pursuing independent projects on students’ interests. As one student put it, “ You not only learn what you need to know but also, what you want to know.” This is all contained in the school day. This gives students the freedom to get out and participate in activities in their com

As a parting thought for Black History Month 2024, IDEAL4Gifted would like to call your attention to this document from 2018. It's been 5 years. Let us consider our practices in light of its standards. "A Culturally Responsive Equity-based Bill of Rights for Gifted Students of Color?", by these leaders in the field, Donna Y. Ford, Kenneth T. Dickson, Joy Lawson Davis, Michelle Frazier Trotman Scott, and Tarek C. Grantham, (March 2018.) IDEAL4Gifted stands in support of this document. #Gifted #giftededucation #culturallyresponsive #twiceexceptional #2e #3e #giftedandblack #giftedDEI #leadership #creative #creativity #bright #quirky #giftedandtalented #adhd #autismspectrumdisorder #Neurodiverse #Neurodiversity #giftedvoices #giftedcommunity #learningdisabilities #2ekids #twiceexceptionalities #parentinggifted #parenting2e #parentingtwiceexceptional #giftedanddistractable #2eminds #thinkdifferently #giftedsupport #giftedhomeschoolers #ghf #homeschool #homeschooling #childrenofcolor #BIPoc #advanced #academicallyadvanced #highpotential #asynchronousdevelopment #asynchronous #equityineducation #tuitionassistance

📢 Attention all gifted education educators and friends, Here's a job for a person with experience in gifted education, project management, and working with a state education department who would like a challenge and the potential to make a positive difference in the lives of over 150,000 students. I won't kid you, this isn't an ideal position but it is a step in the right direction for a positive change. In case you didn't know, MA is in the bottom 3 states for Gifted Education. There hasn't been any representation at the state dept. of ed level since the 1980s and there aren't any policies, laws, requirements, standards, or funding for anything that has to do with gifted education. The Department of Education doesn't understand gifted but the Commissioner of Education does. The Department has been working with people from Northwestern University for a couple of years. They and other advocates have managed to convince the people at the department to do something. What they have proposed is what is similar to a Schoolwide Enrichment Model that would get into schools through a couple of programs they already have. One is called MTSS and the other is called Acceleration Academies. Currently, the Acceleration Academies are there to help kiddos pull up quickly to the middle. However, I can see how they could evolve into something that could support populations of underserved gifted students. Something they don't say in the job description that I know to be true is that they would prefer a person of color. If you or anyone you can think of might be interested, they can contact me directly to find out the inside scoop on what it is, what the Dept. of Ed wants, what some of the challenges might be, and what I think it could become with the right person. Thank you for your help spreading the word. Sincerely, Dr. MaryGrace Stewart Founder and CAO of IDEAL4Gifted

Sharing a note of thanks from an IDEAL4Gifted parent, " We enrolled our son Nicholas in the IDEAL4Gifted program a few weeks into the school year. We knew right away that we had found the community we had been looking for. The teachers challenged him at just the right level, and he flourished in the unique environment. He grew on so many levels. We are so happy to see him shine and be accepted for who he is by everyone in the IDEAL4Gifted community. We are incredibly grateful to be part of this family." #IDEAL4Gifted #HighlyAble #Gifted #TwiceExceptional #EducationProgram #VirtualLearning #Flexible #Innovative

... more from our recent #OpenHouse. Q: My child is highly energized and has difficulty sitting still. How do you accommodate his need to move? A: Our team of certified gifted and special education teaching professionals employ a variety of strategies designed to help our students succeed, including regular breaks in our program day and downtime at lunch; students are encouraged to stand if they need to; others participate in class sitting on a stress ball or bouncing on a mini tramp. Our "shepherds" assist students in completing their work and paying attention to detail - opportunities to revise material are frequent. #IDEAL4Gifted #HighlyAble #Gifted #TwiceExceptional #2e #Flexible #EducationProgram #VirtualLearning #LearnFromHome Image: Pixabay
