About us
The idOS, AKA Identity Operating System, is an open-source, composable and interoperable solution designed to serve as the identity layer of web3. It aims to revolutionize the way we manage and control our digital identity in a decentralized world. Built on the principles of chain-agnosticism, compliance, self-sovereignty and decentralization, the idOS empowers users to own, manage, and securely store their identity data. In an era where data breaches, unauthorized data access, and privacy concerns are rampant, the idOS addresses critical issues such as data security, user experience, and bringing new real-word use cases to web3. It offers a user-centric approach, enabling individuals to have complete control over their data without third-party intermediation.

OpenFi at EthCC: When Bankers Meet Degens The first OpenFi Summit during last week's EthCC in Brussels was a tremendous success, with almost 1,000 participants from banks, card schemes, DeFi protocols and many more. OpenFi unbundles the account from the bank, placing it on-chain via a user-owned smart contract account. This allows seamless integration of existing TradFi services (e.g., bank transfers, debit cards) while also incorporating DeFi services, thanks to fully user owned self-custody wallets. This approach will lead to a Cambrian explosion of innovation, fulfilling the dreams of fintech influencers who envisioned open banking years ago - which however thanks to bank lobbying & their dysfunctional APIs never became reality (PSD2). Read more about OpenFi in Macauley Peterson's article published in Blockworks linked in my answer below. Thank you to all participants of the OpenFi Summit - and especially to the idOS team: You were amazing hosts, Julian Leitloff, Beatriz Alexandre, Lluís Bardet Álvarez and Anna Bikmetova! If you want to participate in our initiative, pls reach out to the "OpenFi Syndicate" ;) Members include: Gnosis Pay, #Zeal , idOS, Monerium and many more!

There are days when everything works out. For me yesterday was such a day. We co-hosted the first OpenFi conference during EthCC Brussels and announced our 4.5m USD funding round led by Fabric Ventures including consortium partners like Circle, Ripple, Gnosis NEAR Foundation and The Arbitrum Foundation. It's a year of work pinned down in one day. And boy it was a lot of work and uncertainty. Without my co-founder Lluís Bardet it would have been impossible. Christopher helped us out when times were toughest. Once fully convinced (certainly not an easy feat) Anil pushed everyone to get the round closed and introduced us to people like we already had. Antoni is a weird mix of investor and friend I can vent to. All the while Julio having his co-founders missing in action is left to build what we promised. Bear with me, I am nearly done: Marjorie is a one-woman boutique law firm building the legal idOS part and powering through transactions. Malte helped out like he always does. And just like Marjorie and Malte, Thomas and Dr. Maximilian worked nights and weekends to close the deal. I will step down end of year as Managing Director of Fractal ID and who else rather than Anna Bikmetova will take over from me. There will be days when it seems like nothing works out again. But this week I'll just enjoy it. If you want to read more about the round Finance Forward has a great piece in German – I'll add it to the comments.

Announcing our $4.5m round led by Fabric Ventures, and including leading web3 ecosystems and organizations The Arbitrum Foundation, Circle Ventures, RippleX, NEAR Foundation, Gnosis , Aleph Zero, RADIX DLT and the Tezos Foundation. This round also marks the creation of the idOS Consortium—a collaborative initiative among leading web3 ecosystems and organizations. The Consortium aims to develop the identity layer of web3 and promote the adoption of decentralized identity throughout the web3 space. idOS is a decentralized data storage and access management protocol. It enables ecosystems to provide an identity layer for dApps to solve compliant user onboarding and significantly reduce friction. For users, idOS provides control over their data and the ability to decide with whom they share it. A cross-chain, composable and compliant identity layer is a crucial element for web3 to achieve mainstream adoption. Our goal is to bring DeFi into the real world by enabling everyday use cases that leverage decentralized, permissionless, and more efficient web3 infrastructure. We call this OpenFi. To make this a reality, we are working together with our Consortium Partners and teams such as Safe, Celo, Fractal ID, Kwil, Monerium, Mento, Outlier Ventures, GnosisPay, Zeal and many others. Monolithic identity systems and closed standards have been major obstacles to the adoption of decentralized identity. This is a call for all identity builders, ecosystems and OpenFi infrastructure providers and dApps to join us in our mission. Let's come together to finally build an open identity system the way it is supposed to be! Read the full announcement blog here: https://lnkd.in/d9dhCysG
