  • 🎉 A HUGE congratulations to Idyllwild Arts alum Nora Germain, class of '09, for her incredible performance with Jon Batiste at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles! 🎻 Nora, a world-class jazz violinist with over 25 years of experience, has been captivating audiences since 2010. Her journey began at Idyllwild Arts, where she discovered her true artistic calling. After graduating and leaving Idyllwild, she continued to hone her craft at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NYC, and USC's Thornton School of Music. Based in Los Angeles, Nora has performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in music, including Jon Batiste, Postmodern Jukebox, Sam Smith, Lewis Capaldi, and many others. With over 100 recordings across genres, ten of her own jazz albums, and appearances on shows like *The Late Late Show* and *The Ellen DeGeneres Show,* Nora is just getting started. 🎙️ In Nora’s own words: "I found my pure artistic calling at Idyllwild Arts." "Meeting Jon Batiste through a mutual friend of Idyllwild Arts was profound. We fell in musical love, and it's been a joy to collaborate over the years." "Getting work comes from being excellent in what you do and making sure people know who you are and what you're capable of." "For me, it became a question of how I can become an indispensable person in our music world—somebody that might not need a jazz violinist, but they do need Nora." The sky is not the limit for Nora—it’s just the beginning. 🚀 Click the link to learn more about Nora! https://lnkd.in/gEWuf7FS

  • In celebration of #NationaVinylDay, we're reliving all of the inredible moments that brought us the student created short film, "Off the Record", to life! Our Film🎥, Dance💃, Music🎶, Dramatic Arts🎭, and Fashion👗 departments joined forces to create a stunning dance film, choreographed by Dance major Adin Joseph and directed by Film major Arsenii Nevzorov, with original music composed by Dramatic Arts major Andre Real and performed by our talented student musicians. Inspired by Jungle's "Back on 74," this Arts Enterprise Laboratory-funded project (AEL) involved 70 dedicated students and stands as the largest grant ever awarded by AEL. It also won "Best Picture" at the IDY Film awards! Shot on the Bruce Ryan Sound Stage on campus and at "Hunky Dory" record store in town, this film showcases the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and the incredible talent of our students. A big thank you to Film & Digital Media Chair Catalina Alcaraz-Guzman, AEL Director Rebecca Kandel, and everyone who made this project possible! 🎉 It's time for an Alumni Spotlight! 🎉 Congrats to Hannah Shaver, IAA Dramatic Arts '14, for her recent win of THREE Emmys as a News Promotions Producer! 🏆🏆🏆 Hannah's award-winning segments “Troubled Waters: Colorado River Series,” “Tropical Storm Hillary,” and “Who Cares About the Caregiver?” have captivated audiences with their powerful storytelling. Born and raised in the Coachella Valley, Hannah's journey started at Idyllwild Arts, where she learned from Howard Shangraw about creating original content. 🎭 This experience has been crucial in her career at KESQ News Channel 3, an ABC affiliate in the Coachella Valley. 📺 After Idyllwild Arts, Hannah attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, drawn by their excellent original works program, and double majored in acting and original works. 🎓 Her role as an RA at Cornish mirrored her experience as a prefect at Idyllwild. The pandemic inspired Hannah to pivot from stage to digital storytelling, and now, as a Promotions Producer, she crafts captivating teasers that highlight news stories. 🎥 Her work involves creating graphic design elements, soundbites, and artistic shots to engage viewers and emphasize the importance of each story. 🎨🎬 From Hannah: "I just love Idyllwild. I would not be the person that I am today or the artist that I am today if it wasn’t for Idyllwild. I am eternally grateful." We're incredibly proud of you, Hannah! Keep shining! ✨🌟 If you're an IAA alum and want to stay connected with former classmates, head to the link to check out Idyllwild Arts Connect, our dedicated IAA alumni networking platform! https://bit.ly/49dCRSI
