"Powering a Sustainable Future" by facilitating the development and innovation of power electronics technology
About us
The Power Electronics Society (PELS) is one of the fastest-growing technical societies of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). For over 35 years, PELS has facilitated and guided the development and innovation of power electronics technology. This technology encompasses the effective use of electronic components, the application of circuit theory and design techniques, and the development of analytical tools toward efficient conversion, control, and condition of electric power. Our members include preeminent researchers, practitioners, and distinguished award winners. PELS also publishes the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, a top-referenced journal among all IEEE publications. PELS is dedicated to:1) Upholding the vital scientific and educational aspects of power electronics and its applications.2) Keeping its members around the globe up to date on state-of-the-art technological developments and advances in power electronics research. In striving to build knowledge and awareness of the latest technologies and other advances in power electronics, PELS's goal is to keep members current and competitive in the workplace and provide them with the tools necessary to help them grow both personally and professionally. We invite you to join us and benefit from a world of invaluable information and support.

eGRID 2024 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has announced the panelists for MV & HV Power Electronics moderated by Fred Wang of University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Brian Johnson of University of Texas at Austin. Information available at https://buff.ly/4eFvRQe The grid of the future will be enabled by power electronic devices that convert and control electrical energy. The usage of power electronics in generation, transmission/distribution, and load at all voltage and power levels will enable a more robust, resilient, and controllable electrical grid. Fundamental improvements are needed to scale power electronics to the voltage and currents of grid applications at a cost, efficiency, and reliability necessary for widescale implementation into the electrical grid. This panel will discuss solutions for medium- and high-voltage power converters to enable next grid functionalities.
