Saifur Rahman, 2023 IEEE President & CEO, is an expert in energy systems and director of Virginia Tech's Advanced Research Institute. He is a distinguished lecturer for IEEE PES and has lectured on renewable energy, energy efficiency, smart grid, energy internet, blockchain, and IoT sensor integration in more than 30 countries. Bala Prasanna is the IEEE Region 1 Director. His professional career of over 35 years includes working at institutions like the State University of New York, AT&T, and IBM in various roles in senior technical and management positions. He also served as a board member at IEEE-USA in 2016-17. Mr. Prasanna is a proud member of the IEEE HKN Honor Society. Marisa Zalabak is an AI Ethicist and Educational Psychologist, bringing over a decade of global experience in leadership and AI ethics. She is a contributor to AI standards with IEEE.org and advises on global AI education and emerging governance guides for AI regulation. As the Founder and CEO of Open Channel Culture, her work as a consultant in adaptive leadership, organizational transformation, multigenerational education, and mental health spans several decades. IEEE Young Professionals Climate and Sustainability Task Force (CSTF) was proud to be represented at the International Youth Conference on Energy (IYCE) in July, in Colmar, France. At this conference, YP CSTF participated in a plenary session, delivering insights into how young professionals and students can actively contribute to climate and sustainability initiatives. The plenary also featured expert presentations by Jessica Bian, who discussed "Regulatory Aspects of Implementing Advanced Technology," and Andy Knight, who covered "Power Converters in Future Smart Grid Systems." The conference highlighted the importance of youth leadership and the role of IEEE YP CSTF in fostering innovation and collaboration in the energy sector.
