NEW in IEEE Engineering Management Review, “The Sixth Organizational Maturity Level and Autonomous Digital Transformation for Nonlinear or Exponential Growth.” Artificial-intelligence-driven management (#AIDM) is the axiomatic paradigm shift that replaces the Deming cycle with the artificial-intelligence-assisted plan–predict–act (#PPA) cycle. PPA-compliant management systems consist of the collections of various AIDMCores that autonomously transform the external reality with recursively enhanced real-time decision-making. https://lnkd.in/eQwT_6sF In this article, author Dr. rer. nat. Manfred B. Schrettenbrunner begins by identifying and comparing the complementary characteristics of PPA- and plan-do-check-act (#PDCA)-compliant management systems. By operating PPA-compliant digital siblings instead of PDCA-compliant #digitaltwins, not only can additional types of inter- and intrarobot collaboration be verified and validated but also the extended cognitive access to reality. AIDMCores are neither just another #AI tool nor are they digital twins that simulate humanoid thinking, behavior, or organizational topologies. On the contrary, PPA-compliant AIDMCores complement humanoid thinking and provide (through autonomous real-time decision-making) an additional dimension of agency and organizational topology that would otherwise be precluded by humanoid behavior and capabilities. Achieved results demonstrate that PPA cycles are capable of outperforming benchmarks compiled by PDCA-compliant management systems. https://lnkd.in/eQwT_6sF IEEE IEEE TEMS: Technology and Engineering Management Society

NEW in IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, “Why Do SMEs Adopt Artificial Intelligence-Based Chatbots.” Due to their limited financial and technical resources, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) must identify and pursue new opportunities to survive and remain competitive in the dynamic business environment. AI-based #chatbots offer one such opportunity for firms to engage with and remain available to customer queries and requests around the clock. https://lnkd.in/edQ5D8qY In this article, authors Dr. Shavneet Sharma, Professor Gurmeet Singh, Professor Nazrul Islam, and Amandeep Dhir, PhD, DSc, MSc examine the factors influencing #AI based chatbot implementation by #SMEs. The empirical results reveal that perceived employee capability, perceived availability of financial support, perceived top management support, perceived cost, perceived complexity, and perceived relative advantage are positively associated with SMEs' AI-based chatbot adoption intention. https://lnkd.in/edQ5D8qY IEEE IEEE TEMS: Technology and Engineering Management Society #TransactionsonEngineeringManagement
