It only takes one slip up to introduce ransomware into your system, crippling your business and impacting the customers you serve. Don’t give cyberthieves a foothold. Never click an unfamiliar link in an email, keep your anti-virus software up to date and always back up critical data to secure locations. Do you use “Password123” for all your account passwords? It’s ok, you can admit it – and then immediately change it. The strongest passwords include a good long mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and special characters, and don’t include easily guessable words. Try to avoid reusing passwords, and make sure you have multi-factor authentication enabled. Make it as difficult as possible for a cyber thief to crack the code. #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth #InsideIEX

QR codes are a great way to share more information with your customers in a limited space, but they’re also an easy doorway for bad actors to get your personal information. Be smart when interacting with a QR code – never enter your personal info into an unknown website, preview the destination before clicking the link, and never scan a QR code out of a sense of urgency. #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth #InsideIEX

With more employees working outside the office than ever, it’s critical we keep cybersecurity in mind while in public. Avoid using public wi-fi if you don’t have a VPN available, be wary of “shoulder surfers” who might be able to see your screen, and bring your own charger/battery pack if possible.
