About us
The Charleston County Aviation Authority (CCAA) owns and operates the Charleston International Airport (CHS), Charleston Executive Airport (JZI) on Johns Island and the Mount Pleasant Regional Airport (LRO). Chartered in 1970 by the State of South Carolina as a special purpose district, it is responsible for managing, operating and developing all public airports in the Charleston County Airport District. The Aviation Authority coordinates its activities with the Federal Aviation Administration and the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission. The Aviation Authority District is governed by a 11-member board. The South Carolina House and Senate delegations representing Charleston County each nominate three members (approved by the governor) and one member is jointly appointed by the Charleston County Council and the Charleston City Council. The mayors of the City of Charleston, City of North Charleston and Town of Mount Pleasant, the chairman of Charleston County Council and the chairman and vice chairman of the Charleston County Legislative Delegation serve as ex-officio board members. The appointed members serve four-year terms.

Today, CHS transformed into a vibrant sea of pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 🎀 Airport employees proudly wore pink and decorated to shine a light on the urgent need for resources in breast cancer screening, diagnostics, and treatment support. Specially designed merchandise was available in the Central Hall, with all proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which provides resources for breast cancer patients. Thanks to the incredible generosity of staff and travelers, over $3,000 was raised to support this vital cause! Thank you all for making a difference. #breastcancerawareness #breastcancer #iflychs #chsgoespink

Myrtle Beach International Airport recently hosted the highly anticipated DBE Outreach Event, uniting the four largest airports in South Carolina—Charleston International Airport, Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE), Myrtle Beach International Airport - MYR, and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport—to explore current and future business opportunities for MWBEs and DBEs. Karel Givens, our MWBE Coordinator, captivated attendees with her presentation on “Doing Business with CHS,” while David Morrow, our Director of Procurement, connected with participants. We are thrilled to announce that CHS will host next year's event! We look forward to welcoming everyone and fostering even more connections that drive our community forward. #SCDBE #Networking #BusinessOpportunities #CHS #CommunityEngagement #MWBE

Back in August, we launched the CHS Cares/Clear the List initiative to support our Lowcountry teachers, and the response was incredible! Here's what we accomplished: 📝 239 teachers registered their Amazon wish lists. ✅ We cleared 10 lists and made purchases from 20 more. 📚 37 schools were nominated, and 13 received care packages with items donated by CCAA employees. A huge thank you to our CCAA employees for your generous donations! Together, we're making a difference for our local educators and students. ❤️ #CHSCares #ClearTheList #CommunitySupport #LowcountryTeachers #CharlestonInternationalAirport

In a remarkable show of support and collaboration, Charleston International Airport, Explore Charleston, and Breeze Airways™ united yesterday to deliver thousands of pounds of critical supplies to Asheville Regional Airport through air and ground transport. The generosity of industry partners and businesses played a vital role in this effort, providing essential supplies and resources to support those affected by the storm. These essential items—including generators, propane, chainsaws, water, linens, hygiene products, mobile sinks, paper products, and non-perishable food items—are crucial to the ongoing recovery efforts in Western North Carolina. AVL is serving as the gateway for these coordinated relief flights, with federal, state, and local agencies working to distribute the supplies to the communities most impacted by Hurricane Helene. We are proud of the tireless efforts of our teams and partners in making this relief possible. Together, we stand strong with our neighbors in WNC as they begin to recover. 🚨🚨 Please do not go to Asheville Regional Airport for supplies. All deliveries are being handled by FEMA and other agencies for distribution at designated locations. #CHSstrong #HurricaneHelene #WNCRelief #BreezeAirways #ExploreCharleston #ExploreAsheville #AVLForward
