🔍 How are women’s empowerment projects conceptualized by the organizations behind them? To address this question, an organizational study was conducted under the IFPRI-led Applying New Evidence for Women’s Empowerment (ANEW) project portfolio, focusing on agricultural collectives. The study’s aim was to better understand the organizational strategies that guide project development and how those envisioned strengthening women’s empowerment through engagement with agricultural markets. PhD Candidate at Humbolt Universitat-zu Berlin, Germany Senior Research Analyst at International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)
CGIAR Thünen Institute @BMEL.de International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) I recently attended a fascinating conference in Berlin focused on agriculture, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and climate mitigation. The event provided an excellent platform for networking with leaders and experts, allowing us to exchange insights on the pressing challenges we face in implementing effective demand and supply-side mitigation strategies. One key takeaway was the importance of integrating both demand-side and supply-side approaches to achieve meaningful reductions in emissions. While demand-side strategies, such as promoting sustainable consumption and reducing food waste, are crucial, we also explored how supply-side measures can complement these efforts by addressing the production side of agriculture and livestock. The importance of regional approaches as against global headline statements was also highlighted. Overall, the conference highlighted the need for a collaborative approach in tackling climate change, emphasizing that innovative solutions and partnerships are essential for overcoming the barriers to effective mitigation. Great people and great networks established. Claudia Ringler #NexusGains #climatemitigation #climatechange #berlin #agriculture
