Call For Abstracts for the IIBEC So Cal Chapter Has Been Extended to September 14! The IIBEC So Cal Chapter is seeking abstracts for presentations at the 24th Annual Hawaii Winter Workshop. The theme of Hawaii workshop 2025 is: Designing for Value. What does value mean to you and the various stakeholders in the project? The current market is putting a lot of focus on value engineering to reduce costs. But when does that cost reduction begin to reduce the performance of the project and what is considered acceptable. Value can also be found in long service life, durability, maintenance reduction, environmental benefits, and many other factors. Proposals should be submitted as a 250-word (maximum) abstract. Any questions about presentation submissions should be sent to hawaii2025@socaliibec.org .

Highlights of the program include fundamentals of single-ply, polyurethane foam, and PMR roof systems; basic concepts and terminology of metal roofing; steep roof design and installation of asphalt shingles, tiles, wood shakes, and shingles; building codes; fire testing/ratings of roofing; a basic understanding of wind interaction upon roofing and typical wind ratings; principles of roof asset management, including roof inspections, maintenance, and nondestructive evaluations. This course is designed to provide individuals of differing backgrounds with relevant information about roofing technology and design. The chapters vary in intensity, from basic roofing concepts to advanced specific-application principles and theory. We have two social events scheduled and all Members are invited, even if not registered to attend the course. On October 16 at the BLU Bar and Grill at Tides of Folly Beach, we will have a kickoff event sponsored by IB Roof Systems. There will be an open bar and appetizers for a meet and greet from 5-7PM.
