The groundbreaking IIDA Design Your World program, now in its fourth year, continued its expansion to St. Louis, MO. This educational pathway program provides diverse high-school students with a two-week experience exploring commercial interior design and design adjacent career paths. Design Your World is a two-week immersive program in collaboration with the IIDA Gateway Chapter and educational partner, Fresh Artists, a non-profit providing arts funding in public schools as well as unique opportunities for emerging artists and creatives. Students develop a basic understanding of commercial interior design including the history and process of design, sustainability, ergonomics, materials and furnishings through practical learning sessions, hands-on projects, field trips, and industry engagement. DYW will also introduces the business practices of interior design, career specializations, and educational requirements—all supported by visits from designers, manufacturers, and design school representatives.
