Supporting and maintaining licensure is important and the Illinois Affiliation of Marriage and Family Therapists wants to let you know of important legislation impacting MFTs. The House version of the licensure portability bill, HB 5246, will be heard by the House Health Care Licenses Committee the first week of April. This important legislation will ease the application process for MFTs across states. We are looking for members who want to testify in support of this bill the morning of Thursday, April 4th. **** LEGISLATIVE ALERT **** There are critical bills being presented that impact licensure in Illinois. We are encouraging you to contact your legislators in support of these bills (SB3211 and HB5246). Don't know your legislator? Find them at: https://lnkd.in/gDx6gEic. IAMFT wants to make advocacy easier so please feel free to use this script: Dear Elected Official: Thanks for your work in advocating for children and families in Illinois. As you may know there is a shortage of mental health professionals in Illinois with only 24% of the need being supported by the current workforce. Marriage and Family Therapists are uniquely trained for meeting this need, but there are currently barriers for licensure in Illinois. This bill addresses this need by making licensure easier for qualified applicants from other states. Please vote for this measure.
