IHC is pleased to share that we have been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago Diverse Developer Initiative to continue to expand our Emerging Leaders Internship program over the coming year. To grow the diverse real estate developer talent pipeline in Illinois and Wisconsin, we’re proud to share that we’ve awarded over $3 million in funding through our 2024 Community First® Diverse Developer Initiative, supporting 62 fellowships and internships across 14 organizations. Our 2024 Community First® Diverse Developer Initiative is now open for applications! Now in its third year, the initiative provides nonprofit and for-profit organizations grants to help Illinois and Wisconsin emerging developers gain access to career development opportunities to advance affordable housing. This year, we will award up to $2 million to qualifying organizations, with grant amounts ranging from $50,000 to $250,000 per organization. It was a busy Friday for IHC's Emerging Leaders interns! We started the day with a training on the Low Income Housing Tax Credit hosted by Jolene Saul of Revolve Community Development. Our lunch and learn session featured a conversation with IHDA's Executive Director Kristin Faust, who shared her career path in affordable housing and IHDA's role supporting the production of housing across Illinois.
