illycaffè is an Italian family business, founded in Trieste in 1933 and committed to offering the greatest coffee to the world. illycaffè produces a unique 100% Arabica blend, combining 9 of the best varieties in the world, selected by illycaffè. Each day more than 8 million cups are consumed in over 140 countries in the finest cafés, restaurants, hotels and in offices and homes. illy has become the standard forerunner of espresso, and thanks to three critical innovations, it contributes to the coffee technology progress at global level. With the bestowing of the first “Ernesto Illy Award for quality espresso coffee” in 1991 in Brazil, illy also pioneered direct sourcing, sharing know-how and paying a premium price for the best quality, based on partnerships underwritten by the principles of sustainable development. The company also founded its University of Coffee with the aim of fostering and spreading its culture, providing comprehensive academic and hands-on training for coffee growers, baristas and coffee lovers in order to cover every aspect of the product. Everything ‘made in illy’ is enhanced by beauty & art, which represent founding values of the brand, starting from its logo – designed by an artist, James Rosenquist – and including the renowned illy Art Collection, comprised of over 100 cups designed by international artists. In 2021, the company had 1305 employees and a turnover of about €500 million. There are 205 illy single-brand shops in over 40 countries In the same year, illycaffè -first Italian company in the coffee sector- obtained the B-corp certification, which identifies companies meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and responsibility, confirming its determination to reach its sustainable targets to create durable and shared value. It is also the year in which Rhone Capital became a shareholder with a minority share to support the company in its international growth.

    We closed the first half of 2024 with a double-digit increase in all profitability indicators thanks to organic, sustainable and profitable growth in all major markets. With an EBITDA of +26.2% and a Net Profit of 13.6 million euros, doubling compared to 2023, we confirm the growth of all the main markets, despite the macroeconomic context remaining complex. In particular, the United States recorded an increase of +11% supported mainly by Ho.Re.Ca and e-commerce, confirming its position in line with our strategic plan.     Let's talk about art.   In the magnificent Procuratie Vecchie in Piazza San Marco, Venice, illyArt Conversation — a series of dialogues on art created this year in collaboration with The Home of The Human Safety Net — has come to an end.   Artists, curators, and art historians debated topics related to the 2024 Biennale Arte, "Stranieri Ovunque - Foreigners Everywhere," which we are sponsoring. During these three appointments, we explored how art can transcend borders, linguistic and cultural barriers, fostering connections and promoting social justice in a world where we are all, in our own way, "foreigners."   Thanks to the dialogues with artists Michael Anastassiades, Massimo Bartolini, Mehrnoosh Roshanaei, and Tracey Snelling, and curators Alberto Salvadori, Luca Cerizza and Farian Sabahi, we have once again strengthened our more than thirty-year bond with the world of contemporary art.     Follow the “Positive Energies” of Barcolana 56 presented by Generali! We are proud to have created this year again, an unforgettable Manifesto for the Largest Sailing Race in the World, teaming up with Stefan Sagmeister, one of the most acclaimed designers of our time, for the poster of the 56th edition of the event. We highlighted the connection between this edition's theme, the “Positive Energies”, and Sagmeister's work, who has interpreted the event through the lens of “Beautiful Numbers” and the perspective of “Long Term Thinking”, his most recent exhibitions, aimed to provoke a thought about the world's positive developments when viewed from a long-term perspective. The artist chose to reproduce sails of different colors and different sizes to represent the evolution of participation in Barcolana over the last 54 years. The female figure, on the other hand, recalls the progress over time of the role of women in sailing competition, from simple spectator, to great protagonist as it is today. Barcolana 56 is scheduled for October 13th 2024 in the Gulf of Trieste, starting at 10:30 a.m., preceded by events on land and at sea from October 4th. We are waiting for you all!     Yesterday, June 27th, the Auditorium “Salone degli Incanti” in Trieste, hosted the side event “The role of vocational education and training: case study in the field of coffee processing to foster sustainable development”, that we promoted together with Fondazione Ernesto Illy – engaged in promoting the well-being of local communities in coffee growing countries –  during the G7 Education Ministerial Meeting, highlighting our unwavering commitment to create a positive impact on the global coffee community. The value of training as a tool to improve sustainability was the theme of the meeting, and we are proud to have participated with the Università del Caffè, our knowledge hub, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.  Since the beginning it has been creating value through training activities and awareness-raising actions that aim to shape a sustainable coffee supply chain, which respects the environment, biodiversity and human rights, and to promote the employability and entrepreneurship of young people. The event, attended by Giuseppe Valditara (Minister of Education and Merit), Gerardo PATACCONI (Head of Operation of the International Coffee Organization), Dr. Tidiane Ouattara (Representative of the African Union), Andrea Illy (Chairman of illycaffè), Andrea De Marco (Industrial Development Expert & Project Manager of UNIDO), Fernanda Maria Roche Soares dos Santos (Counsellor of the Embassy of Brazil), Stefania Giannini (UNESCO Deputy Director-General for Education) and Laura Frigenti (CEO of the Global Partnership for Education), concluded with a visit to the photographic exhibition “Amazônia” by Sebastião Salgado we’re supporting, offering a visual exploration of the richness and diversity of the Brazilian Amazon rainforest and its people.   Thank you to all the participants!   #G7Italy #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #CoffeeCulture #UniversitàdelCaffè #VocationalTraining #GlobalEducation #illy
