It's been a while since the end of my time with Impac Exploration Services as a Mud Logger in the Permian Basin, but I would like to take the time to reflect on my experience. When I first came to the Permian, I was really unsure about how this would go. I didn't know how it would be being an eighteen-year-old working on-site. After 3 months of working in the field on 5 different wells with 4 different operators, I can say I do miss being on rigs. During my time as a Mud Logger, I felt like I was doing something really valuable in supporting drilling operations. I want to thank the crews on Precision 600, Lasso 101, and especially Ensign 766 and H&P 532 rigs for creating a friendly environment for me to learn more about drilling operations and safety. I want to thank Mike Vela, Rachel Sessom, Paul Dial, PhD and Marlon Jones for training me: not only setting me up for being able to do my own tour, but also interpersonal skills and work etiquette. I would like to thank Mayra Martinez for helping me obtain this opportunity, and Kevin Strong for taking a chance on me.

During my summer internship, my manager gave me valuable advice that changed my perspective: "𝗛𝗶𝗳𝘇𝗮, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲. 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱.” This was a powerful reminder that being an "intern" does not limit my ability to contribute meaningfully. While interns are often seen as inexperienced and less impactful but the trust my team placed in me led me to: • Developing and deploying impactful projects. • Actively participating in team discussions, no longer holding back my thoughts. • Building strong relationships with colleagues. Being an intern does not mean we lack influence. We are here to learn, offer fresh perspectives and grow. PS: As the new semester begins, my summer internship at Impac Exploration Services has come to an end. These weeks flew by so quickly, working with an incredible team. #summerintern
