Helping small and medium-sized companies automate their HR processes

Helping others discover their inner potential since 2009.

"We use human connection and networks instead of hierarchies to get things done. When we work together to harness the power of collective thinking and diverse perspectives, there are few limits to what we can achieve. We are a people business. Our core work with our clients is to get people to work together to talk, listen, be curious, collaborate, innovate and change. This applies to us as well." One our of guiding principles at Impact is "Working Together". Last week was a great example of how necessary it is to involve others if we expect to do great work. Our team had the opportunity to work with Bloomberg in designing and delivering an elevated communications workshop to a group of senior managers from different parts of their business in NYC. My initial strategy was to use the years of experience I had to design something that looked and felt different than anything I had worked on previously. Initially, I was excited. This could challenge me to think differently about how we communicate with each other and what could be possible for us to grow and get better. Soon, I realized that I was building this workshop from my perspective was limiting what was possible by creating this experience through my lens and only my lens. I needed to broaden my approach and look to some colleagues for support and insight. CASSIE CUPPEK has been one of my closest design partners for the past few years and stepped in to challenge me in some of my "truths" around elevated communication as well as my design process. Needless to say, her input and experience were essential to getting us back on track and creating something memorable. Caitlin McClure (she/her) joined the process not long after and, as always, brought a creative light to our facilitation approach. She got us to see what could be possible with the time, space, and number of participants we had. Sydney Johnson was the glue that held us together throughout the entire journey and put strong structures and boundaries to our creativity and design. This is what "working together" is all about. Sometimes, as professionals, we're so burdened by factors such as time, availability, ego, hierarchy, or our own internal dialogue, that we forget a very simple concept that most of us learn early in our careers - Our interactions with one another can create something greater than ourselves. It's not just about getting the support you need to help you get work done. It's about doing better work. Wherever your professional journey may take you, It's essential to involve others to both support you and challenge you. It's how we grow. So many of you reading this have been pillars of support for me in my professional journey. The relationships, the knowledge, the stories, the friendships.... They're what make us human. It's what makes this work so rewarding. It's why I consider myself to be fortunate. Wherever our paths may have crossed along the way, thanks for being a part of my journey!
